Takeaways on Warren in Seattle, comeback kid or last hurrah?

A truism in the life of candidates for president: No tonic compares to a big enthusiastic crowd showing up at the end of a day that has not gone well.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren was a way-back fourth in the Nevada caucuses. She had a stellar debate performance last week, but it came after 75,000 Nevadans had cast advance ballots, and after Bernie Sanders had labored a year to organize and expand (to African-American and Latino voters) his movement.

In Seattle, however, more than 7,000 people greeted Warren on Saturday night. The crowd at the Seattle Center Armory overflowed to Fisher Pavilion, which was soon filled up. "The overflow is overflowing," tweeted Collin Jergens of Fuse Washington. "Happily packed," is how Kim Nathan put it.

Warren has to make her case quickly, since Sanders appears to be locking up the left wing of the party. Or at least, as with Sanders' 2016 win in Washington, he has put together a fervent following that can sweep a caucus.

Point of clarity: In 2016 Sanders won the Washington State Democratic caucus. Though the state also has a primary, until this year the Washington State Democrats used the caucus to pick delegates to the national convention.

Hillary Clinton won the 2016 Washington State primary.

I am so glad we've gotten rid of caucuses.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It’s Washington, so of course there will be enthusiasm for a progressive candidate, but even still Bernie is polling higher.

Her numbers are starting to look grim and I don’t think she has the ability to come out of the tailspin.

Warren had a rather glorious week and I'm not sure we have seen the results of that shake out yet. It is my understanding that two-thirds of the votes had already been cast in Nevada prior to the debate, and her gathering last night—which was fantastic (the link skips to Warren's walk-on, past the openers)—seems only to have propelled enthusiasm for her campaign further.

I am incredibly excited to see how this next week goes. Of course, I may find myself disappointed for any number of reasons, though it is quite lovely to feel rejuvenated.

The idea that somehow the primary is over I find strange... We've only just begun! This is the time for us all to feel jubilant and be supportive of our candidates

She hasn't done well in IA, NH and NV and is expected to get single digits in SC. Exit polling in Nevada shows she has little support from minorities. She isn't in the lead in any Super Tuesday state. She even trails Sanders in her own home state.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
