Establishment Party.

Personally, my opinion a huge mistake from day one.

Now Sanders has turned on that establishment as per his agenda.

2. That's how it goes. And if no one gets a majority on the first ballot, then the delegates are all..

...free to vote for whomever they want.

Want to know what the majority of delegates, indeed probably 75% of them are? ESTABLISHMENT DEMOCRATS!! And 90%+ of the super delegates are establishment delegates.

6. Yes of course the nominee will need 50+1. But how we get to that number is the question.

If Bernie goes into the convention with a huge plurality but not quite a majority and his lead is substantial over the second placed candidate then I think that the super delegates would find themselves under tremendous pressure to support his nomination. And if a second tier candidate gets the nomination due to back room dealing from the super delegates then I don't think that it would be conducive to party unity going forward. And without unity we lose.

8. Bernie Himself Opposed That Plurality Formula

I think to stay consistent, if he does not have a majority of either the popular vote or delegate vote, then it is brokered convention. Bernie's campaign embraced the idea of choosing a nominee who is not necessarily winning the popular vote or has the most delegates.

I don't think that we can necessarily make a comparison with the 2020 campaign. And I think it's time we move past the 2016 campaign. That's old news.

12. Where Did Bernie Say That?

It sounds sort of hypocritical and self-serving. I thought Bernie's campaign supports the idea of even allowing a contest if the presumptive nominee has a majority vote and a majority of the delegates. My take is just to stick to the nominating rules, which does not provide that the plurality wins. Indeed, I would think that Bernie would totally oppose that idea based on his campaign's past statements.

14. No, I am advocating for the rules. The nominee will need 50% +1. We all know that.

What I am talking about is how do we get there. If Bernie gets a strong plurality and leads the second place candidate by a substantial amount then I think he deserves the nomination and the super delegates should vote for him on the second ballot. It would all be within the rules. They would support Bernie because he was the choice of a strong plurality of voters.
