(2,444 posts)Even if he pulls in Warren supporters, it is still less than 50%. I foresee Biden taking the nomination in a brokered convention. Funny that Sanders wanted a brokered convention in 2016 when he had 43% of the delegates, but now that is a bad idea when he will have the most votes without a majority. If Bernie thinks thinks he will get a single republican vote in a general election, he is a fool.

(68,586 posts)Russian news will affect his chances...and He won't be the nominee with 30% or less support...it will be a brokered convention and a different nominee will be chosen.

(11,045 posts)A bitter Bloomberg v Bernie contest would be the worst possible outcome for everyone. If Sanders wins, the GOP will devote an entire conference to framing him as 'Comrade Bernie', the communist. On the other hand, if Bloomberg wins, a substantial number of berners will bolt no matter how enthusiastically Sanders may back him. Having spent four years, campaigning against 'the billionaire class', it would be a tough sell. On top of that, the GOP will frame Mike as 'Mr. Wall Street', and take that message straight to the midwest. Women will stay at home and African Americans won't be lining up in record numbers, to say the least. It would not end well.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
i am hoping for this scenario- bernie accepts bloomberg's help financially.. and use that to flood tv ads, countering trumps framing him as whatever...
also i hope john oliver do a show about socialist... just like he did medicare for all, its very effective

(11,045 posts)I take Mike at his word. He will 'everything he can to defeat trump'.
The line of attack I would use is 'Who are the real socialists' - and hammer home the subsidies and tax breaks the federal government has given to trump, the fossil fuel industry, giant corporations, and all the rest. Saturation ads have a chance - and there is plenty of material to work with.

(43,182 posts)Opinions and magic don't matter in politics. It's about hard reality, and allowing our democracy to be permanently handed over to dictators because you "hoped" it wouldn't happen? Not a very good idea.
Suggest you read up and face realpolitik.

(43,182 posts)Obama had a great campaign operation and no baggage from accepting help from a foreign nation. Obama was a first tier candidate with impeccable credentials and the best campaigning skills since FDR, not to mention a world class supportive operation.
You think it was all hope and change? Never, not at all.

(694 posts)Bernie has baggage that is unique to his position, as all candidates do. Democrats will unite behind the eventual candidate.
If independents choose the cat grabber, over any candidate, it is proof that the republican coup on 02/05/2020 was completely successful.

(68,586 posts)All one has to do is look at the midterms...we lose with Sanders. The' it is my turn from the left'... those who have not got out and sold the message (which I agree with mostly) will cost us the white house once again at a critical time in our history and do lasting damage to our party and to our Republic.

(14,566 posts)Bernie IS going to win the popular vote and delegate count going into the convention.
If the party holds to that and gives him the nomination, the Rs will JOYOUSLY roll into a socialism campaign that almost assuredly will end up in a disastrous blowout in November that will be the functional end of American democracy.
The only way he is not our nominee will be through a delegate battle at the convention, and if that occurs, regardless of who get the nomination, you are going to a sizeable portion of his supporters who don't show up in November.
We are pretty much fucked ...

(43,182 posts)Why is Russia helping his campaign? Because Putin wants Trump to win, and they know Bernie will be mincemeat once the GOP "SOCIALISM" campaign heats up.
Choose Democracy over Dictators. Don't let Putin pick your president.
