Paper ballots, paper ballots, paper ballots!!!

They can be counted, signed, verified, and counted in a short period of time precinct by precinct with calls into a central number that each precinct can verify its total is correct before the final tally is released.

The press can live without moment to moment numbers. They can take the verified number all at once.

Enough already of trying to please everybody.

Our elections should be sacrosanct.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I was 25 working in an usual election in Chicago. Our candidate was the "progressive" candidate, and the other one was the standard, Mayor Daley candidate, "Total Support for the Dictator Mayor..

..So on the day of the election, I worked hard for the opponent. I thought for sure that we would win. So, at the precinct that I was working in there were paper ballots. And we lost....guess what?

...The fellow who pledged "total support" for, the mayor ,the dictator, ...won that precinct by 70 votes. Something like 160 to 90..or something similar. (this was 1971 don't recall the exact numbers.)

So....guess what? I say to the precinct captain of the Democratic Party who was working for the mayor, "Can I count the ballots"....and the paper ballots were stacked in a pile...and the other judges, as well as the precinct captain said, "sure you can count the ballots" (mind you I was an "observer not a judge")
....so I counted them..The candidate for the mayor had 70 votes more than our candidate. He was correct, and was totally honest....It didn't matter who counted the ballots, because the precinct captain knew all the people in the neighborhood, and knew his people were going to get out to vote, so it didn't matter who counted the ballots, even if it wasn't an "election judge"...The ballots were the "ballots" and they were the "total proof" of that election.

So, we need total proof of an election against Trump..That "total truth and honesty is "paper ballots"..............................................................................................................

Anyone can count them more than once and that is the answer. A group can watch the ballot count, and look at them and that is it, and that is all there is...And if a ballot count in a precinct needs to be done again, well, it ain't that hard to count, whether it is 400 or 800. Most people know how to count and stack ballots for one person or another. And afterwards, anyone can count them again, to see if the total is correct. Is that complicated?

and that is what I learned in 1971...48 years ago. Paper ballots and lots of watchers make for a fair election. Even if the votes have to be counted more than once. It ain't that difficult to count to one hundred or eight hundred.
