(43,545 posts)Ms. Warren wooed wealthy donors for years, stockpiling money from fund-raisers, and has used $10.4 million from her 2018 Senate race to underwrite her 2020 bid.

As Ms. Warren has risen in the polls on her populist and anti-corruption message, some donors and, privately, opponents are chafing at her campaigns purity claims of being 100 percent grass-roots funded. Several donors now hosting events for her rivals organized fund-raisers for her last year. Can you spell hypocrite? said former Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania, who contributed $4,000 to Ms. Warren in 2018 and is now supporting former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
Mr. Rendell said he had recruited donors to attend an intimate fund-raising dinner for Ms. Warren last year at Barclay Prime, a Philadelphia steakhouse where the famed cheesesteak goes for $120. (The dish includes Wagyu rib-eye, foie gras, truffled cheese whiz and a half-bottle of champagne.) He said he received a glowing thank-you letter from Ms. Warren afterward.
But when Mr. Rendell co-hosted Mr. Bidens first fund-raiser this spring, Ms. Warrens campaign sent brickbats, deriding the affair as a swanky private fund-raiser for wealthy donors, the likes of which she now shuns. She didnt have any trouble taking our money the year before, Mr. Rendell said. All of a sudden, we were bad guys and power brokers and influence-peddlers. In 2018, we were wonderful.

This persist pac is all about progressive policy. It is not pac money from insurance industry, fossil fuels, big pharmaceutical, etc.... now, is it?
Is persist pac secretive about its donors? Is Warren being transparent about the pacs support and their agenda?

(19,204 posts)She starts off wanting to be "Bernie Lite", and when that doesn't work for her she veers to the middle and attacks all those already there instead of attacking Bernie (her supposed opponent on the far left). Now the flip-flop on the super PACs. But her acolytes love her, and she raised a bunch of money overnight (those super PACs sure help, huh, Elizabeth?) and all is well in Warren-World again. Until it isn't.

Warren didnt try to be Bernie. Bernie has based much of his economic policy positions that YOU like in the DECADES of painstaking research performed by Warren and other academics.
Politicians were coming to Warren and referencing her work and her BOOKS long before Sanders won his senate seat.
Sheesh....try reality. Bottom line....Why do you spread propaganda against Warren?

(8,231 posts)campaign...which was stupid to do in the first place. I don't blame her for wanting to use pac money just be honest about the change - and she was not honest in the CNN town hall about her change of heart.
Other than that though...which this isn't really anything I think Liz is a pretty clean candidate....it's just too bad she doesn't do better in the swing states.

https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a31040278/elizabeth-warren-super-pac-reversal/
Both Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar both now have Super PACs supporting them. They are accepting financial help from these Super PACs. As the OpenSecrets folk report, were not going to find out whos running these things until a substantial way down the line. The reason for this is that they both would like to be President of the United States one day, and this is the way you get to do that. In fact, they dont even have any control over who wants to establish a Super PAC. These are not my rules. These are Anthony Kennedys rules.
This is more likely to be an issue for Senator Professor Warren than it is for Klobuchar. SPW made a lot of noise for a long time inveighing against Super PACs. She was asked her about what appears to be an about-face. This is what she said, via Real Clear Politics:
So, look, the first day I got in this race I said I hope every presidential candidate who comes in will agree no super PACs for any of us. I renewed that call dozens of times, and I couldnt get a single Democrat to go along. Finally we reached the point a few weeks ago where all the men who are still in this race and on the debate stage all had either super PACs or they were multibillionaires and could just rummage around in their sock drawers to find enough money to be able to fund a campaign. And the only people who didn't have them were the two women. And at that point, there were some women around the country who said, 'You know, thats just not right. So here's where I stand: if all the candidates want to get rid of super PACS, count me in. I'll lead the charge. But that's how it has to be. It can't be the case that a bunch of people keep them and only one to two dont.
This is not a great answer, but its the only one that Justice Kennedys opinion left open to anyone who wants to run for president, unless they happen to be Michael Bloomberg. Even Bernie Sanders conforms to it, although his people make the risible claim that Our Revolution isnt a Super PAC because they spend the money on legal pads instead of television ads.
