Before presidential candidate Beto O Rourke took the stage Wednesday night, Jake Drobnick, an Iowa State University freshman, summed up the hour-and-a-half long wait by joking, Beto late than never.
When ORourke, who had a flight delayed at OHare Airport in Chicago, made an appearance donning a red Iowa State Cyclones hat, he told a crowd of 185 students and Ames residents packed in the ISU Memorial Union Maintenance Shop, that hes leading a critical charge to defeat (President) Donald Trump.
Were all going to be on the same team, and whoever the nominees is, whether its a he or she, we are going to defeat Donald Trump, said ORourke. Dont let them divide us. We are all Americans.
ORourke is the latest Democratic presidential hopeful to visit Ames and Story County in recent weeks, and is among the 16 or so vying for their partys presidential nomination in 2020.

(112,520 posts)I expect Beto to be more progressive than many of his detractors have portrayed him.
He also has a record of introducing bipartisan legislation and supporting veterans.

I have my list of candidates from the Des Moines Register that lists where they are going to speak.. I try and see everyone more than once as they get closer to where I live... thanks for the link
