Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumHow many candidates do you predict will remain in the primaries after Super Tuesday?
I'm working under the assumption that those in now will stay in until then -- which could very well be incorrect.

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
Algernon Moncrieff
(5,790 posts)I think equally likely is 4 with Bernie, Pete, Bloomberg, and Amy.
But you are right - ???? is the big question.

(2,657 posts)1. Obviously Bernie will stay in because he has the cash and the poll numbers to stay in.
2. Same is true for Bloomberg.
3. Steyer doesn't have numbers but he has the cash, so I figure he will stay in.
4. Tulsi is spending no money, so she can stay in without costing her a dime.
5 & 6. Warren and Biden might still stay in for a little while, but I predict that Buttigieg and Klobuchar may get killed due to their low support among African Americans.

(5,790 posts)If he's still polling in single digits, I think he'll bail. No insider knowledge - JMHO.
Super Tuesday will be the litmus test for Mayor Pete - that is for certain.
The first three contests have never favored Biden. So the real question is South Carolina and the states down south.

(2,233 posts)Clearly we'll have Sanders and Bloomberg, as one is currently leading the polls and is likely to be leading delegates heading into Super Tuesday, while the other is dumping so much money he'll likely show well that day. My third candidate will be one of two people: Biden (most likely), or should he somehow start doing better than expected with minorities, Buttigieg. In my mind, it's unlikely we'll have BOTH still in the race after ST, although it's possible.
Who's the fourth? Tulsi Gabbard, of course. Her Russian/Republican backers will keep funneling money into her campaign solely to help sow discord among the other remaining Democrats.

(5,790 posts)Then the question becomes: what is she actually accomplishing? Who is she actually taking votes from?

(2,233 posts)I think it's very plausible that the people voting for her so far have been Republicans or plants trying to boost her numbers so some Democratic voters might consider her. In my little, anecdotal world, I've never met anyone who actually wants her to be President.
