More than anything else I am just so tired of Bernie

He has been running for President since 2014 non-stop, traveling the country for over 6 years to get nominated. And the best he can do is something around 30% of the vote? Call me unimpressed.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

It’s the handful of really over the top, hateful followers he has that turn me off and make me worry. If he doesn’t get the nomination, I fear they will protest vote en mass and we will have tthe pay for it.

I also think that the small group of folks make it easy for bots and trolls to infect discussions and poison the well.

It was widely reported that a lot of people voted for trump because they liked his populist message (even though it was a con job) in contrast to Hillary’s. Sanders has a highly parallel, but actually authentic, message.

And it’s a hard truth, but a lot of people voted for trump because they disliked Hillary. Those who disliked her are more likely to vote for Sanders, ironically to us, more so as she continues dissing him.

When I was working GOTV in the GE, I spoke to countless independent voters who had wanted Sanders to be the candidate.

Learn why he can't get his support above 25% of the party he claims to represent.

Learn how to compromise and negotiate

Quit yelling so damn much

Tell the relatively small percentage of his loud-mouth supporters to knock it off. And mean it. With no false equivalencies

I could go on for quite a while.

By the time the last general rolled around, I was glad he lost the primary. His appeal had nose dived once I started really thinking about his plan to move us in the right direction. Joe Biden your preferred candidate has been running for president or discussing it for more than 2 cycles. This is his third shot at it and he has never obtained traction in any race. However, noone attacks your right to support Joe Biden as a disunifying action but somehow supporting Bernie is disunifying.

More important is the fact that it is very usual for candidates to run again if they were the also runner in the last election. Think Hillary Clinton. She ran in 2008 and did not win in a contentious primary and then ran again in 2016. I assume you would not think her running again screwed up party unity? However, this is the usual process so don't get out of whack cause someone runs who other people support and think they are disunity. Support your own candidate, don't tear down others and other supporters. Then you will not be guilty of what you are accusing others -- screwing up party unity.

And I am angry because ALL the focus should be on getting Trump-the-destroyer out of office, but Bernie wants to rail on his never-ending complaint about the Democratic establishment. 57. Like his non-transparent Our Revolution isn't shady.
Tue Feb 18, 2020, 07:07 PM

He gets funding from a dark money pac and then complains about the Democratic establishment.

https://www.commoncause.org/press-release/common-cause-files-complaint-against-pro-bernie-sanders-group-our-revolution-for-violating-soft-money-ban/

Today, Common Cause filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging reason to believe that Our Revolution, a nonprofit political organization established by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in 2016 and now supporting his 2020 presidential campaign, violated the federal ‘soft money’ ban. Sen. Sanders has been a longtime critic of super PACs and so-called “Dark Money” groups. The complaint documents that Our Revolution has solicited contributions explicitly to elect Sanders president, received contributions far in excess of the applicable $5,000 contribution limit and spent funds in connection with federal elections, including current voter mobilization efforts supporting Sanders in Iowa.

Under the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, an entity directly or indirectly established by a federal candidate or officeholder is not allowed to “solicit, receive, direct, transfer, or spend funds in connection with an election for Federal office” unless the “funds are subject to the limitations, prohibitions, and reporting requirements” of federal law.

According to Our Revolution’s tax returns showing contribution amounts but not contributor names, data compiled and first reported by the Associated Press, from 2016 to 2018 Our Revolution raised almost $1 million dollars from contributors who gave in excess of the applicable $5,000 contribution limit, including multiple contributions of between $100,000 and $300,000. Our Revolution has not disclosed any of its contributors to the FEC, as required by federal campaign finance law.

“Americans expect and deserve to have our campaign finance laws enforced and they expect political organizations to abide by the law, regardless of their political views,” said Paul Seamus Ryan, Common Cause vice president for policy and litigation. “The facts surrounding Our Revolution, including its founding by Sen. Sanders, its receipt of six-figure contributions, its failure to disclose donors to the FEC, and its political spending in Iowa and elsewhere, point to a clear violation of the federal soft money ban. Common Cause is a nonpartisan organization and we work to hold power accountable regardless of party affiliation or policy positions. It is critically important that the soft money ban be enforced, or outside groups founded by candidates will become a commonplace means to evade contribution limits and disclosure requirements.”

The following morning I’ll listen to the bernie bros whine and cry and blame Hillary and/or Bill and/or Chelsea and/or the DNC.

I will admit to trump fatigue and I have pretty much shut him out. I feel a lot better having done so. You can do the same with Bernie. Don't just come here and complain: act on your own behalf.

In mass communication, one doesn't want the message to be all over the place. What is needed is a single, focused theme. We have a big problem with inequality in our country and that is what Bernie addresses. His focus is an asset because for every person out there who is tired of it, there are 20 who haven't been paying attention.

If you got the message, great. Tune out. Mission accomplished.

The sad part, which would be funny if it wasn't so scary, is that he, or at least, thinks that his almost fixed 25-28% is somehow "pulling ahead". In fact, if there was only one moderate that everyone would agree on, he wouldn't even be in the race at this point. The pollsters keep splitting the oppo numbers into more and more pieces. His numbers are half of what they were in 2016, but he looks better in theory, because he can eke out wins in broadly contested small states. Even combined with Warren's numbers (which would not all go to him, by any means), he has been losing badly. Good thing for him, half the Democratic party he rails against, decided to tun this time.

If his "revolution" was actual, he would've walked into the race the front runner by far, and he wouldn't have to be trading barbs with the Bloombergs of the world. Let's face it, 70+% of the party would prefer anyone, even a small town mayor with no experience, billionaires or former Republicans to Sanders.

I have nothing against Biden personally. He seems like a nice guy, but he is no Obama. For me, he simply isn’t inspiring; he is status-quo. I find many of his supporters' annoying, especially those who push false narrative that "Biden is the only one that can beat Trump.” Super Tuesday is in two weeks and we will see where the chips fall.

Just my two cents.

On the other hand, not living in or near NY, Bloomberg is actually a breath of fresh air. He and his advisors are looking pretty clever so far. Unlike Trump, he has actually been successful at more than just getting his name on buildings in over sized letters. It looks to me as if he can make things happen.

Bloomberg + Klobuchar might be a very interesting ticket. Two people who really get things done.

He has run for president twice before, and now, when it is clear that he is slowing down mentally, he is running again for no reason except his own desire to become president. He has no new ideas, and he is out of touch with the concerns of young people. They will not vote for him, and he will not address adequately the crises that our country is facing, from student debt to income inequality to the greatest crisis of our time: climate change. Whatever one may think of Bernie as a candidate, he has motivated young people to get involved politically because they see him addressing their issues.

Every town hall, every debate, he recites his same stump speech. He identifies a problem, vaguely says he's going to throw money at it, but never says how he'll get congress to agree or how the math adds up.

He offers every constituency their entire wish list, and how it will all be paid for, and that everyone will live in a utopia. And the younger the voter, the more they naively believe him. It's a cynical ploy by him, but it works just enough that he can get 3 out of 10 Democrats to believe him - which is enough when the other 7 are being split 5 ways.

One of my goals is to reapply for my passport. My old one expired some years ago but since I was not in the position for going anywhere for vacation, never mind overseas... I had let it lapse. I just want an option. Add to that, I'm scrubbing/formally quitting FB and its associated applications and wiping my computer of political images/memes, also set my browser to erase my history every night. I feel it may be necessary to go underground. I am not a psychic and am very crappy at political predictions but I do not see any scenario where Bernie wins the GE... even if Trump strokes out and meets his maker beforehand. I think I have just had it with the personality cults and the underhanded scorched earth tactics. I think I only welcome Bloomberg because he has no Effs to give and have faith that he will vett Sanders because while he did not start out to attack other Democrats, he certainly will not back down to any one attacking him.

But honestly at some point I hope the centrists in the race approach the perfect moment where they decide ok, cut bait and unite behind one of them-- before it is too late.

btw... just watching the news and see Weinberg pushing his walker is eyeroll inducing.

Moved to Goldsboro NC from NJ in 2016. I see confederate flags and hooples shooting guns in their yards at tannerite targets on Sundays, so no one is going to convince me that a "democratic socialist" can win NC. I am afraid we will lose Cooper and any chance at getting some House seats or legislative seats if Bernie gets the nomination.

by the GOP at the state level. An unbridled, newly acquitted Trump scares me even more. Bloomberg has been very smart to only run ads so far because he has split the moderates up among the remaining candidates, and that splintering might just be enough to screw this thing up for everybody. I don't know where we go from here, but we need one candidate that the 70% of us can get behind.
