Warren Says Bernie Must Answer for Fans Who Harassed Women Union Leaders: 'We Do Not Build On A

Foundation Of Hate’

Mediaite article with video:

https://www.mediaite.com/news/warren-says-bernie-must-answer-for-fans-who-harassed-women-union-leaders-we-do-not-build-on-a-foundation-of-hate/

On Monday, MSNBC campaign embed Ali Vitali asked Warren about Sanders’ online supporters, who have begun to loom large as an issue in the Democratic primary.

-snip-

“Do you feel like he’s done enough to condemn the culture online that stems from his movement?” Vitali asked Warren.

“I’ve said before that we are all responsible for what our supporters do, and I think Bernie has a lot of questions to answer here,” Warren said, and added “I am particularly worried about what happened in the attacks on members of the Culinary Union, particularly on the women in leadership.”

“The whole notion of publishing their personal addresses, their phone numbers, and then making very aggressive threats against their own safety and the safety of their families, that is not how we build an inclusive democratic party and it is not how we build Donald Trump,” Warren continued, and added “We do not build on a foundation of hate.”

-snip-

Slight gaffe there, since she clearly meant to say "beat Donald Trump" instead of "build Donald Trump." (If Biden had made that gaffe, it would probably have been the headline.)

I saw Ali Vitali's tweets about this interview last night, but was too tired to post the thread.

I did skim the replies, though, and saw Warren being attacked by Sanders supporters, predictably.

Thread starts here:

Warren was accused in the replies of trying to hurt the progressive movement, trying to help Bloomberg, of "bad-faith smear-enabling" and "desperate flailing" and being a "Big Structural Snake." And interspersed with those attacks from Sanders supporters were replies pointing out that those Sanders supporters were just proving the points Warren had made.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

She and Bernie are supporting basically the same policy platform. With all the people attacking progressive ideas like M4A and free college, should should instead be making the case for those, and responding to those attacks.

I don't see her taking responsible for the group that did the "Biden coffin" protest, even though it is led by a Warren supporter. Nor should she, really, because she had absolutely nothing to do with that. Neither Warren nor Bernie condone or foment or support any kind of online harassment or bullying, that's clear.

The last time she attacked Bernie, her poll numbers went down. I'm not sure about the reasoning behind doing it again.
