Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumMichael Bloomberg says his money is why Trump got impeached
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been rising through the Democratic primary race, most likely because of the absolutely massive amount of money he's poured into it. And at a Chattanooga, Tennessee rally on Wednesday, the billionaire made it clear just what that money can do, Politico reports.
"In 2018, I helped flip the House" by bankrolling 21 Democratic challengers who eventually won Republican-held seats, Bloomberg said Wednesday. That led House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to return to her role at the top of the legislative body, and "let Pelosi and the House do what the Constitution says they should do hold the president accountable," Bloomberg continued. "They started the impeachment process but it all came from that."
Yes, Bloomberg, who has never held national political office, is now claiming he's the reason impeachment happened. It's likely just his latest attempt at using his financial superiority to get under President Trump's skin as if the millions of dollars worth of TV and social media ads he's purchased weren't enough.

(5,271 posts)according to Center for Responsive Politics. Bloomberg helped at least one Repub candidate in 2018 while Steyers $$$ went all to Dems and liberals. Other groups associated with Bloomberg also contributed another $20 million or so in 2018 to help Dems.

(5,324 posts)It will take everything we've got and then some. You know the big time GOP billionaires behind the scene are throwing huge amounts of cash into the conservative pacs to work against us. If a few billionaires agree with our views and want to help us, we should more than willing to welcome them. I have to think a lot of other good billionaires, name like Buffet and Gates, might too be funding our cause.
Because for our country, are are facing the most ultimate battle of good and evil we have ever seen.

(18,752 posts)in at least a couple races. It was less that they were for gun legislation but that the Democrats holding the seats were not supportive enough of gun control.
He took a very short term view to punish those Democrats, ironically shooting himself in the foot for chances of passing future gun laws. (Pun fully intended)
The side effects have cascaded through the years, affecting many laws, nominations and even the impeachment trial.
