Marq Claxton just now on MSNBC: "... Bloomberg has NOT apologized for Stop & Frisk.."

"... what he has apologized for is the he didn't tamp down on the tactics of S&F..."

This is a similar point I was making this morning !!!

Bloomberg hasn't said he should not have supported the racist elements of S&F Bloomberg is saying it was "overused" JUST YESTERDAY , that's NOT apology.

Damn, someone caught on to the wording as I mentioned here.

Democrats deserve a better explanation about S&F from Bloomberg

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

manufactured indemnity against lawsuits that would have forced them to be responsible sellers of guns.
Bloomberg tried to deal with a problem that Sanders had a large hand in creating.

Here in Florida, any idiot that has an NRA or pro-gun sticker on his or her vehicle is inviting thieves to break into that vehicle and look for a gun to steal. The thief sells the gun and it ends up involved in crime. That is the reality. Sanders voted NOT to hold gun owners responsible for properly securing their guns, many of the resulting stolen guns ended up on the street of the city that Bloomberg was leading, what was Bloomberg supposed to do?

As I mentioned in another post, I conducted a site search here using the keywords "Michael Bloomberg" and couldn't find a single post prior to 2018 in which anything that could be even remotely construed as praise for him, his politics, his policies as mayor of NYC, or his business practices (he has strong business ties to China) could be found.

It's absolutely baffling to me that Bloomberg is now such an object of unconditional praise and adulation when he was such an object of scorn and opprobrium before. A billionaire oligarch with an absolutely abysmal civil rights record and business ties to China? Really? We can't do better than this as a party?

Color me gobsmacked.

Feb 2020
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/bloomberg-apologizes-stop-frisk-police-practice-n1084756

Michael Bloomberg on Sunday apologized for his longstanding support of the controversial “stop-and-frisk” police strategy ahead of a potential Democratic presidential run, a practice that he embraced as New York’s mayor and continued to defend despite its disproportionate impact on people of color.

Addressing a black church in Brooklyn, Bloomberg said he was “sorry” and acknowledged it often led to the detention of blacks and Latinos.

“I can’t change history,” Bloomberg told the congregation. “However today, I want you to know that I realize I was wrong.” Bloomberg’s reversal is notable for someone who is often reluctant to admit wrongdoing.

National legistlators had an important role in reducing the flow of guns into big cities from places that had lax gun laws, the failed. Yes, Biden gave lip service to the concept, but did he organize an unyielding fillabuster that brought Congress to a halt until the issue was addressed? I won't even start on Bernie, anything he says about guns now is totally destroyed by his staunch past support for guns and their manufacturers.

5. Bloomberg Reiterates Apology for 'Stop and Frisk'
Wed Feb 12, 2020, 08:03 PM
Feb 2020

Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg campaigned in Mississippi on Tuesday, where the mayor of Jackson said he appreciated the former New York mayor’s apology for “stop-and-frisk,” a policing tactic that disproportionately targeted men of color.

Bloomberg met with Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba and about 20 community leaders in Jackson -- where more than 80% of residents are black -- to discuss criminal justice reform, and Lumumba told reporters he had previously discussed his opposition to the policy with Bloomberg.

“I’m grateful that he has acknowledged that wasn’t proper,” Lumumba said before a roundtable discussion on crime and punishment, part of Bloomberg’s third campaign appearance after announcing his candidacy on Nov. 24.

Bloomberg apologized for “stop and frisk” and told the group in Jackson on Tuesday that while his aim was to save lives, he regrets the impact the policy had, and “no one should ever feel targeted or judged by the color of their skin, especially by police.”

or for voting to prevent gun manufacturers from facing liability for their products?

Has Biden and Klobuchar apologized for failing to pass national legistlation that would have prevented guns from flooding into big cities like NYC and Philly?

Bloomberg dealt with a issue of guns on the streets of the city that he led. Bernie Sanders voted to make the situation worst for NYC and other big cities. Biden and Klobuchar failed to come up with imaginative legistlation that would have kept guns out of big cities, or at least reduced their flow into those cities.

The point is Biden, and EPECIALLY Sanders are culpable in making Stop and Frisk happen. Had guns been prevented from flooding into NYC, then there likely would have never been a Stop and Frisk effort.

It is one thing to give lip service to a concept, getting something concrete done is an entirely different beast. Bloomberg tried a hamfisted approach for getting guns off the streets of the city that he led, Biden gave lip service to the concept of limiting gun traffic, Bernie Sander voted time after time to make that traffic not only possible, but to increase it. So, will Bernie and Biden apologize to the families of people killed by guns that Bloomberg could not get off the streets?
