Consensus is SC voters are not expected to change their mind based on the results in Iowa and NH

Biden’s last-minute decision to skip his New Hampshire election night party in favor of a trip to Columbia produced a stark split-screen, contrasting his deflating night in the Granite State with a still buoyant mood in South Carolina, where he remains the front-runner ahead of the Feb. 29 primary.

“When you hear all these pundits and experts and cable TV talkers talk about the race, tell them, ‘It ain’t over, man. We’re just getting started,’ ” he said. “Our votes count too. We’re not going to let anyone take this election away from you.”

Unlike in Iowa and New Hampshire, two mostly white states where he finished no better than fourth, Biden has kept his lead in South Carolina thanks in large part to robust support from African American voters, who comprise roughly two thirds of the state’s Democratic electorate.

Democrats successful in capturing the White House in previous elections had minority voter support, Biden insisted.
“Too often your loyalty, your support, your commitment to this party has been taken for granted,” he said.

Many Biden supporters at his Columbia rally Tuesday night said they do not expect South Carolina voters to change their minds based on the results in Iowa and New Hampshire.

“Once those two are done, Biden will win South Carolina and the news will say, ‘Is he picking up momentum?’ said Joe Brown, 49, a bail bondsman from Sumter. “No, it’s not momentum, we’ve had this fire burning a long time here. We just weren’t able to spread it to those other states. That’s OK.”

Biden’s ties to former President Barack Obama and decades of relationships in South Carolina created a strong advantage for him here from the outset of the race, leading his allies to believe it could serve as a “firewall” if he struggled in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Just as Iowa and NH were determined to vote how they wanted to vote, SC will do the same. They are no different than other strong-willed voters.

This polling was before NH blowout. He might lose SC if he loses big in NV.

calls / send out tweets of support. Apathy will get us nowhere.

We really need to take a page from the supporters of a certain other frontrunner who make things happen by being engaged. This is what it takes to win.

Tom Steyer has spent a fortune in SC on TV ads. He's been advertising for months now, that is the reason for his decent showing on SC polls and the chunk of African-American voters that he's peeled away from Joe Biden. If it is true that for black voters the most important thing is "someone who will beat Trump", then many of them might give Steyer a second look, if it looks like Joe Biden can't get the nomination. Steyer is the only candidate who has openly called for reparations, and once he starts putting that in his TV ads, he could take off.

And there's no doubt that he has the money to continue all the way to the convention, if he so desires.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

THIS fat old white guy would much prefer to see states which are more representative of our overall population get the first shot at choosing our nominee. With no disrespect to either Iowa or New Hampshire (my brother lives in New Hampshire) I just don't think it's good for our party to have them going first.

and soft expectations of bigotry and white privilege in the media when it comes to IA and NH. The Republicans are having a grand time with the Democratic Party's dysfunction. If it continues, they could capitalize on the disaffected feelings of some black voters in the South. They could use this to exploit the situation and create discord between black Democrats in the South and others in smaller, less diverse states.

I, for one, am getting very angry at the narratives that I'm seeing from both Buttigieg and Sanders supporters.

caucus and primary coming up.. I do not understand this push to have people drop out before others have had their voice heard. No one is batting this out of the park... both Pete and Bernie have had wins by the skin of their teeth. SO NO ONE SHOULD DROP OUT.. Super Tuesday is almost here.. and we will know who can bring us together by then is my thought process...
