Exclusive NH Tracking Poll: Sanders Continues To Lead, Buttigieg Closing In

WBZ-TV

BOSTON (CBS) – In a continuation of movement we picked up in last night’s WBZ/Boston Globe/Suffolk University tracking poll, it’s another day of good results in New Hampshire for Pete Buttigieg.

Bernie Sanders continues to lead the field with 25%, but Buttigieg is closing in with a 19% showing, his best yet in our poll.

Joe Biden dropped three points from last night to 12%, and Elizabeth Warren is holding steady at 11%.

Looking deeper into the crosstabs, Buttigieg appears to be siphoning voters away from Biden in a couple of key areas. He’s up by four among women while Biden is down by four, with a similar scenario among registered Democrats, a crucial demo for Biden.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. If I were in NH, and it looked like Buttigieg would do better against Sanders there than Biden would

do, I'd vote for Buttigieg just to help stop Sanders.

That doesn't mean I'd prefer Buttigieg to Biden.

I like Bloomberg, and believe he would be stronger in the GE than Buttigieg would be.

4. If Biden finishes 4th or even 3rd in NH, you're probably right.

I want the strongest candidate we've got. Right now, that's Pete.

But you're probably right if these numbers hold.

Biden only garnering 12% would be a very bad showing. It appears Biden is losing support in the most recent NH tracking polls. He's down three points in the Boston Globe/Suffolk poll and down one in the Emerson poll. Those are not good numbers.

he didn’t give the public much detail. Though he appeared to bounce back with vigor, heavy campaigning might take a toll, depending on...well, stuff he has not been willing to share.
