You think you know Candidate X or Y. Look at his/her record; look at what and whom they’ve supported; and you start looking at who stands with them, and why. Sometimes that one-degree-removed category can provide quite a bit of illumination, and at times, might even tip the balance one way or other.

Anyone who admired Kamala Harris would probably take note, for example, and for some, that might be enough to push someone over to whoever she endorses.
