Elizabeth Warren wants to create a Justice Department task force to investigate Trump administration corruption

PUBLISHED TUE, JAN 21 20209:00 AM ESTUPDATED TUE, JAN 21 20206:44 PM EST

Democratic presidential contender Elizabeth Warren said Tuesday she would create an independent task force in the Justice Department to investigate corruption by government officials during the Trump administration.

The Massachusetts senator said her goal is to restore “integrity and competence” to the federal government after President Donald Trump leaves office.

“If we are to move forward to restore public confidence in government and deter future wrongdoing, we cannot simply sweep this corruption under the rug in a new administration,” Warren wrote in the plan.

I like Warren, but she made a terrible mistake in jumping in with both feet, as soon as Sanders came out with his M4A, and Harris was as bad in immediately "marking" Warren. I would have thought she would have cleaned this up by now, but unfortunately she hasn't, and it may be too late anyway. I know Glenn Kirschner on MSNBC - a former federal prosecutor - has been pushing for a "Trump Crimes Commission" for several months now and has volunteered to be a part of it

Barr has turned the DOJ into an election arm of Trump’s personal campaign. We have lost the DOJ as the representative of the people. The other thing I would like to see, perhaps after expanding the Supreme Court, is a challenge to the DOJ opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted. It is an untested idea and does not deserve the status of law that it currently enjoys. I’m not sure just who would have the standing to bring this before the courts.
