Things I observed while canvassing in Iowa

So a week ago I mentioned I was going on a bus to canvass for Sanders in Iowa. Short summary..

Iowans are pretty awesome. Incredibly hospitable. With very few exceptions, they were easy to talk too and put up with my babbling through my script and taking down information.

They were also pretty interested in Bernie. For all but one that planned to go caucus, he was their first choice. One was for Warren but Sanders was her second choice. I had a lot of really strong Bernie supporters who were really eager to caucus. Those that said they couldn't had things like work or kids.

The ground game was really good. The Sanders organization was on the ball, coordinating everybody. IF have a gripe i think they could have done more training as for many of us this was the first time we had really canvassed. I had but that had been years ago and the Sanders campaign has a much more intense strategy.

So I don't want to jinx anything by making predictions. And obviously I only saw a very small portion of the state. But I feel Sanders will probably do well as the polls have said.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

canvasing in and around Clear Lake as well as Esterville. The Hospitality was fantastic and as you said, you run your Script and folks listen, yah, you get a clinker once in a while, but for the most part,it was a hoot. BTW,was canvasing for Harkin.
