Democratic Primaries

and she is lovely and so wonderful, a perfect First Lady if ever I saw one. And a proponent of public education and teachers.
I am still and will be a Warren supporter, but when I saw Jill all I could think of was what a contrast between her and Melania. And I am sorry to have to type those two names in the same sentence.
Whoever we support in our Dem primaries and our candidate for President, let us celebrate the good and the wonderful in our party.

Since you like Jill, I'd recommend that you read her book: Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself
I found myself admiring and liking her even more after reading it.

(58,785 posts)but also the real thing herself. As the wife of a congressman and senator, she could have made that her career, that life comes with long hours of duties, but her life's work is education.
"...let us celebrate the good and the wonderful in our party." For sure!
With that in mind, a shout out to Hillary Clinton. She's so villified that most don't know or believe that for her it's been the wellbeing and advancement of families, especially of women and children, from the day she had to raise funds for her own salary at an NGO, to her work as a first lady, senator, secretary of state, and private citizen today. Her tenure as secretary of state made history by breaking the male pattern to devote much of America's foreign policy focus to assisting and encouraging the protection of families and advancement of women and children, and notably focusing attention on them as victims of wars, in nearly 200 nations around the planet.

(58,785 posts)who aren't still terminally soaked in 2016's poison will have a much better understanding of all the malignant forces ranged, in this very dangerous era, against our first genuine woman candidate for president who was also a liberal Democrat and therefore a grave threat to RW powers.
Frankly, had I known how close we were to the brink as a nation and how extreme and how powerful a tool the reaction (not just RW) to either would be, I would have been rightly afraid to run Obama or her in 2008 or her in 2016. Way too much scary change piled on top of way too much scary change for a democracy already destabilized and targeted for destruction.
And now back to the decent and responsible sanity of Jill Biden.

(47,496 posts)it has been going on for at least 30 years. Few politicians, men or women, have withstood such malicious and vile attacks. It has been so persistent and constant that even many Democrats bought into it. In the interim, Hillary became far more cautious and scripted, which made many people distrust her more. Of course, when she does let down her guard, she gets attacked for that as well! I can imagine her frustration very well.
I know what you mean about 2008. It really was incredible that Obama won, but he was a strong candidate with no skeletons in his closet. McCain was a weak candidate that even many republicans didn't like. Same with Romney. Meanwhile, we didn't have foreign interference in our elections, at least not on the scale of 2016 and Facebook didn't take off until 2009. Twitter wasn't huge until a few years later. Everything was much different in 2008.
