Krugman: Biden's probably most electable, and electability should determine union endorsements

In fact, Krugman said electability should "absolutely" determine those endorsements.

He's commenting on the news that a large union that endorsed Sanders in 2016 is now endorsing Biden because their members view him as more electable.

Interesting. There are really 2 questions. Is Biden more electable? Probably, although you can argue the case. If he is, should that determine union endorsements? Absolutely: much more important that some Democrat win than who it is

is defeating Trump. So I can understand why a union would endorse Biden, if they think he's more electable.

In the last cycle my Union endorsed HRC early on and I was absolutely livid, cancelling my contribution to the Political Action Committee.

And just always ignored who they said to vote for because we are more progressive, they usually picked a moderate candidate.

I wonder how many people vote off what a union picks.

BTW...unions have a strong history of delivering the vote. Most members know the value of acting in...dare I say it...a unified manner.

'Seven in ten union members say they are more likely to vote for a candidate who “is supported by the AFL-CIO and national unions, and has strong pro-union positions on the issues.' (IAFF)

have said the same thing about HRC who did win by 3 million votes. Also, Bernie could take as many votes away from tRump, those who are still voting against the status quo. The biggest problem will be getting progressives to show up to vote in enough numbers to defeat the fascist dirty tricks. This election will be tougher in that respect.

Beating Trump is #1-1000. Nothing else counts. Nothing. Biden gives us our best chance, which is precisely why I switched my support from Warren to Biden.
