Bloomberg surges past Warren into third place in new national poll

https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/480721-bloomberg-surges-past-warren-into-third-place-in-new-national-poll

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg surged past Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in the latest nationwide Hill-HarrisX poll, putting him in third place in the field of Democratic presidential candidates.

The survey, released Thursday, showed Bloomberg’s support ticking up 4 percentage points to 11 percent from from a Jan. 13-14 poll. Warren dropped 2 points, to 9 percent.

Other candidates registering in the single digits included former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, at 5 percent, and businessman Andrew Yang and billionaire Tom Steyer, who each received 4 percent. The rest of the White House hopefuls polled at 2 percent or less.

Warren has struggled to rebound nationally after peaking at 19 percent support in October.

This, more or less, is why we can't have nice things.

I think he would do more to hinder the progressive agenda as President than to help it. So, no, I do not want him to be the nominee.

Trump builds fires. Sarah Palin was a good fire-builder. Like her, self aggrandizement by being an inspiring speaker is the one genuine talent I've identified in Sanders, but he has no achievements to indicate he could come through with anything. The job isn't flying around to arenas talking all the time, even if Trump thinks so.

Now, Warren's a bit of a fire-builder with real capability and substance (!), but she never caught fire and has mostly smoked out.

So that's it if we want fire builders? Those are our choices to pander to people who really need their butts kicked, not set on fire? Trump and Sanders?

Just don't see it.

but he'd be a hell of a lot better than trump. I'm still backing Joe, because Joe is hands down the best man to repair our country. Electing Bloomberg to replace Trump sets a bad pattern of electing who ever pays the most money to get into the office. Not good.

There's even some things I like about Bloomberg, particularly the fact that his hatred towards Donald Trump is long-standing, visceral, and personal. This is a good thing. But FFS.

However, I do believe Biden will emotionally connect with more people in the long run. His campaign strategy ( in my humble opinion) is the best to defeat trump. I have watched all of the major candidates and Joe gets it. Trump won by using emotional marketing to appeal to people’s dark side. Biden is focusing on the kitchen table issues and using emotional marketing to appeal to our better character. I think the time and situation is right for this approach. He will properly exploit Trump fatigue and anxiety. Not every election wants a disrupter.
