How about a Biden/Bernie ticket?

Too white, too male.

Biden/Warren, Biden/ Harris? Too moderate (B/H)?

Then Biden/Abrams?

What will get young people excited to vote for a ticket with Biden at the top?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

I still think that Biden/Sanders would be a good idea. We need to unite the Centrist Dems with the Progressive Dems to beat Trump in November. Whoever gets the nomination should try to balance the ticket in this way. So we need to unite the two wings of the Democratic Party, as well as mobilize and get out the vote. The more Dems that vote, the better our chances.

You'd think that defeating Trump would be a good enough reason in-and-of itself for the "Progressive Dems" to get with the program and support the party's nominee. But all indications are that won't be the case. Talk on the street is that it's "Bernie or nobody". Sigh. I don't understand people sometimes.

I think that you are right if you mean that a certain percentage of Bernie supporter will never support Biden, or Buttigieg, or Klobucher. That said, if one of those Dems get the nomination, there will be a percentage of Bernie supporters that would and *should* vote for whoever gets the Democratic nomination. Some percent of Bernie supporters will not vote for anyone else, so they are written off no matter what percent they are.

Whoever gets the nomination, part of their immediate job, I think, would be to try and unite ALL Democrats, of ALL types and stripes. It is a big tent party, and we will need to get as many Dems mobilized for the General Election as possible. Biden/Sanders was mentioned. I could also see Biden/Warren, which I think would be more palatable for some Dems, since there seem to be more Dems that really dislike Bernie than those who dislike Warren. So maybe Biden/Warren.

the ticket.

Biden's running mate should ideally be a woman of color, and at least a couple decades younger than he is -- not just to allay the fears of those with health concerns about older candidates, but to show a ticket bridging the generational divide.

The best VP choice will be someone who is still young enough to run for POTUS after Biden's term is completed. Add 8 years to Bernie's age now... and it's clear to anyone that he won't be be running again. He'd be 86 and trying to convince everyone that he'd be fit enough to serve until he's 94. No. Not gonna happen. Bernie will NOT be Biden's VP running mate.

After tonight, I never want to hear another Democratic voter complain about not feeling "energized" or "heard" or "enthused" or "excited." Vote for your primary choice, and then be ice-cold in your determination to show up at the polls and vote for the nominee, whoever it is.

Fri Jan 31, 2020, 03:44 PM
Jan 2020

I'll put this in very plain terms. ANYBODY, young or old, that is not motivated or seeing the absolute necessity of voting this year .. is not worth discussing. And the stark differences currently on display by the parties on issues of concern like climate change, environmental policy, health care, gender equality .. resonate at least as much with the young as they do with any other demographic. With that in mind, think it is a disservice to the young to suggest that they will need an "exciting" ticket for motivation. I think the man, and the party, that is currently in power is motivation quite enough.
