Bloomberg campaign manager: Trump would 'decisively' beat Sanders

The campaign manager for former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg warned in a new interview that Democrats will be headed to an electoral disaster if they nominate Bernie Sanders to run against President Trump.

“I understand when you hear him speak, why it’s compelling,” Kevin Sheekey, Bloomberg’s top campaign official, said about Sanders, who appears to be gaining momentum in the first two states that will weigh in on the Democratic primary. “The problem is that, in my view, he loses a general election pretty clearly and decisively, particularly in those six swing states” likely to determine the outcome of the election, he said.

“I think it’s a sentiment that a lot of people would agree with,” said Sheekey, who has served Bloomberg for years as a deputy mayor of New York City and more recently as global head of communications and government relations with Bloomberg’s media company.

“You know, I try to find what he’s done, you’d have to probably go back to when he was a mayor [of Burlington, Vt.,] and that might be 30 years ago.”
