Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumSo let me get this straight (so to speak)
If a candidate takes so much as one single, solitary dollar from a person who works for a bank, a health care company, any company on wall street, or pretty much any company, she or he is utterly corrupted and not to be trusted. Now, note this money doesn't go into a candidate's pocket, it is spent in order to attempt to get votes. But if a candidate, accepts the endorsement of a known racist, sexist, homophobe, and transphobe she or he is just fine, in point of fact, to be commended. Now this endorsement is supposed to generate votes. So if someone gets votes from Wall Street she or he is corrupt but if someone gets votes from a racist, it is downright absurd to have a problem with that? Do I have that straight?

(67,782 posts)...a bank teller is "financial industry", the guy who works in the cafeteria for Goldman Sachs is "Wall Street", someone who stocks shelves at a CVS is "big pharma", and so it goes.
Opensecrets doesn't differentiate, but they DO have a disclaimer which about 90% of the people who use their information don't bother to read.

(38,687 posts)If you don't sign Bernie's pledge not to take money from the businesses he has declared corrupt, then you are corrupt. And what businesses are corrupt? Those who don't support what Bernie wants. Bernie wants M4A. Anyone who doesn't want M4A is corrupt. Which is basically the entire health care industry. Now all corrupt.

If you run afoul of this nightmare they have the Intercept and common dreams write you up as corrupt. Then Zephyr Teachout c/p's those articles together under her byline anti-corruption' expert and Bernie's people blast it out on their letterhead to friendly catapulters.
Fundraise corruptly and you are in deep trouble with the revolution.
But yeah... racist, sexist, homophobe, and transphobe Joe Rogan's fine. Why? Because they say so. New rules. Suck it up neo-lib. The magic fairy dust revolution is here and we're on a Cletus hunt for votes.
And don't talk about Our Revolution, 6 figure anonymous donations, and honest mistakes that could happen to anyone when that money accidentally finds it's way into Bernie's campaign.
Can you imagine this Presidency?
