My gawd, you'd think Whoopi just escaped from the USSR. Does she REALLY want Sanders to start his own third party and run?
I think these privileged high paid hosts are rapidly distancing themselves from their initial audience. I think there is this unfounded fear in the circle of privileged entertainment stars, that Sanders is BAD for the Democrats chances. Maybe they should look at the polls from Democrats themselves and respect their preferences. Here's a thought: maybe a lot of Democrats actually WANT Sanders to run and win, as a Democrat. Sanders beats Trump in polls. No logic in their paranoia. Could it be they are enjoying Trump's tax cuts to the wealthy? and know who is going to take those away?

(14,174 posts)We can drag up 20 year old text or opinions from some, but others are off limits. We can judge a present day person based on past faux pas, for which they have apologized for, but not others.
And then go one step further even. To dismiss them as a "messenger" for even truth to power. And further, to dismiss truth to power from even anyone that works at the same organization. Like a brilliant journalist host like Ana, a woman, who knows Cenk may have issues like many do, but that he's repentant, and she can forgive and move on. Especially when liberal voices are so few and far between today in media.
Its the hypocrisy of forgiving some for past opinion and attitudes, and stressing what's important is the here and now. But others must pay. No matter how much truth they expose. Of course it could also be because TYT are behind the Democratic primary leader, Sanders. Who if you listen to trolls, who want division, is also a misogynist sexist gun nut who doesn't like black people.
I hate the way tabloid politics, easily manipulated by trolls, is a big factor in folks deciding who they support, and not by what they actually stand for.

Sanders abrupt reversal represented a misstep for Vermont senator and presidential candidate. The California arm of his campaign was warned about Uygur's past comments and urged the national campaign to stay out of the race, sources told POLITICO.
But Sanders endorsed Uygur regardless. His intervention created turmoil on the ground in Californias 25th Congressional district, a seat that Democrats flipped in 2018 but is now vacant after Democrat Katie Hill resigned amid allegations of sexual impropriety.''
snip//
Similar denunciations poured forth again following Sanders endorsement on Thursday. Even supporters of the Vermont senator expressed dismay that the progressive standard-bearer would back a candidate, in Uygur, with a problematic history. Local activists also groused that, unlike Smith, Uygur does not live in the district.

(49,991 posts)Its a contentious topic that arose from a fairly simple idea: to alert an audience of any unsettling content that may follow. Trigger warnings can be defined as an attempt to prevent an unaware encounter with certain subjects that may cause someone to unwillingly recall a traumatic event. These warnings can be found on various social media platforms, many left-leaning blogs, some college syllabi, and even in verbal discussions or presentations.
Despite the push to abolish trigger warnings in favor of free speech, the term itself is not as new as those who oppose it would lead you to believe... https://www.adolescent.net/a/let-s-discuss-the-etymology-of-the-word-triggered

Snowflake: informal, derogatory; An overly sensitive or easily offended person, or one who believes they are entitled to special treatment on account of their supposedly unique characteristics.
Triggered: (of a response) caused by particular action, process, or situation.
a triggered memory of his childhood
Doesn't Trump fit that "snowflake" description? And don't editorials and cartoonists also use that word against him? Why do we just give them words like that? We don't have to.
And to answer your last statement. Hell yeah! I think it would be hilarious if Democrats started wearing Blue caps with the same statement. Maybe a "Vote Democratic" on the back. Now that would definitely TRIGGER the Trumpists SNOWFLAKES.

(14,174 posts)Trump is the biggest snowflake in the country. Followed by Nunes, and other Republicans. But we have a few too. Don't confuse political smarts and expediency with outright rejection. Sanders still speaks highly of Cenk. But Cenk saw the trouble that those few would cause. Evidence of their knee jerk vitriol right here on DU. So he instead said he wouldn't take endorsements, paving the way for Sanders to politely pull his endorsement.
I'm sure you've seen this kind of pattern before. Al Franken was a big example. Felt he had to take one for the team. Different circumstances, but the same rationale.
Same for the Obama's relationship with Reverent Wright.
There is a time when a politician or party must sever ties not because of some severe misconduct, but more because of the perception of it, and the opening for the enemy to exaggerate and use a relationship against them. Sanders had no choice.
Cenk has already acknowledged and apologized for his past statements. But he did it, and he has to wear it. Part of that is paying the price by Sanders having to publicly slap his wrist to placate the PC purists. Fine. I can accept that. Most of us realize this is a price that must be paid sometimes to walk the line.

However, Uygurs past comments have been an issue since he first announced his candidacy. In the past, he has written that women are poorly designed creatures who do not want to have sex nearly as often as needed for the human race to get along peaceably and fruitfully, as Martin reported in November. And in a post on The Young Turks website about his rules for dating, he wrote that he must have an orgasm by the fifth date: If I havent unloaded by this time, things are intolerably slow.
SNIP
In a 2012 segment of The Young Turks, for example, Uygur said he thought that Orthodox Jews and Muslims who wear heavy clothing are wasting their lives.
In a 2007 episode, he used the n-word multiple times after celebrity bounty hunter Duane Dog Chapman used it. (Uygur told the Times that The Young Turks had followed a policy of using the n-word when criticizing racists for using it, but had stopped after conversations with black activists.)
And in 2016, he covered the Harvard soccer teams scouting report, in which players rated female students, speculated about their favorite sex positions, and criticized their appearances. The report referred to one student as manly, and added, Not much needs to be said on this one, folks.

(1,315 posts)After a dismal few months, dealing with hopelessness as one smear against Biden to every dirty trick against Biden failing (from Lucy Flores to Zephyr Teachout), it appeared bleak. Hopeless. Depressing. Demoralizing. Incurable. Grave. Wretched. Parlous. Futile. Vain. Irreparable.
Then one poll comes out (an outlier) and suddenly the whole group is Triggered (or is it Tiggered?)
The fact remains that another poll will come out showing that one to be an outlier.
Then it will be back to bleak. Hopeless. Depressing. Demoralizing. Incurable. Grave. Wretched. Parlous. Futile. Vain. Irreparable.
