In 2016, with just 2 candidates in the race, he only managed a slim 4 delegate lead leaving nh.

That lead disappeared as quickly as it arrived, and it was never seen again. All the hand wringing over super delegates was garbage. He had a huge deficit in the pledged vote.

In this cycle, there are 4-5 strong candidates. The vote will be split multiple ways, and coming out of nh with even a 4 delegate advantage will be remote.

Iowa and NH mean nothing once SC and super tuesday are over. Now you can argue that if bernie doesn't win either one, he will lose support quickly, and that might be true. But he doesn't have enough support even if that doesn't happen.

His supporters are good people, vocal and well organized, but the numbers aren't there. And they aren't growing.

Its actually the exact same thing we heard about Warren a while back. Her "trendline" meant she was going to pass Biden easily. It never happened. She plateaued and then fell.

Given that nothing has happened to set off some surge. I expect that this is just tightening of the race in the run up to the caucus.

That a change of a mere 3.0 over six months. On the other hand, with this latest seeming outlier in New Hampshire today, Sanders has poked his head above 20% (20.4%) for the first time since April 23.

Further, Biden was +6.2% vs. Sanders on April 27. Today Biden is +6.2% vs. Sanders on January 23.

This is the WHOLE picture, not a snapshot of just one or two days. This latest "surge" is only regaining lost ground, it's nothing revolutionary.
