"SNIP......

The DNC announced the qualifying rules for the next Democratic debate on February 7, ABC News reports.

“The slightly modified criteria for the debate, which is sandwiched evenly between the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 3 and the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 11, includes the previous criteria of qualifying through the polling and grassroots thresholds but it also includes a new, second pathway to qualify. Any candidate who is awarded at least one pledged delegate to the Democratic National Convention based on the results of the Iowa caucuses, as reported and calculated by the Iowa Democratic Party, will be able to participate.”

1. Interesting twist, but that probably won't help any but the top four candidates anyway.

And I'm not sure he'd be happy about that, i.e. either having to debate, or declining to debate if the spot is offered.

There will only be 3 early states at that point and so the Delegate counts as an Iowa poll. By super Tuesday expect the threshold some form of number of delegates.

The same people from the last debate have already qualified.

5. Rats, I was hoping we could go through all Debates without having to see Bloomberg.

It seems pretty obvious to me that this adjustment was made to allow the possibility of Bloomberg in the Debates. The rules were set. if Bloomberg does not want to ask for contributions, that is his choice. The rules should not be adjusted just because he does not feel like asking for donors. I wonder if pressure was applied to the DNC about this.

it seems almost impossible to end up with just one pledged delegate unless a candidate ends up with at least 15% in a single district. That doesn't seem likely in any circumstance.

Joe Biden
