Just left our monthly Democratic Party meeting

I live in a rural area outside of Nashville. Trump stronghold. That said, we had a huge turnout. Young, old and pissed. We usually have 25-30. 90-100 attended tonight. I took a few things away. These people will support anyone. Literally anyone to defeat Trump. Consensus was not very excited about old, white people but they will support the nominee ( and this was a group of white people!). Everyone loved Pete, Bernie was a risk but they like him and Biden would probably get nomination but little real enthusiasm for him. A state party data guru was there and was very optimistic. He said Trump hasn't expanded base and He thinks a 1.5% increase in turnout will beat Trump. Just an observation from my small town.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

getting your news from. Reputable sources—other than the BBC— say Democratic Party. That’s what its name has been since its founding in 1828. This “Democrat Party “ crap is a recent product of the nasty hyper-partisan cult the Publican party ( yes, that’s how I truncate IT’S name now) and should never be uttered by a democrat.

It may seem like a small thing, but it's not. It's a "tell". If someone refers to our party as "the Democrat Party", they are denigrating it and we will never have a productive conversation with them. We need to call it out every time we hear it. And under no circumstances should we adopt it ourselves. On a more positive note, this native Tennesseean is thrilled to hear of this movement in rural TN.

some reason to be optimistic.

I suspect your statistician is correct. Trump has in fact alienated pretty much everyone but the old, white, heavily armed, nationalist xenophobes.

Everyone else is pretty much horrified at how the guy has lurched from disaster to disaster - his corruption, his awful environmental policies, this new thing with funneling our tax money into evangelical schools, the Ukraine shakedown.

Every single person who can needs to make sure they are registered and go vote.
