Chris Matthews: Right now, bet on Bernie Sanders in Iowa

Chris thinks Bernie Sanders is the candidate to beat in Iowa: “Two-thirds of the Democratic Iowa Caucus voters in 2016 call themselves liberal or very liberal. Bernie swept these very liberal caucus goers in 2016 and should do it again in 2020 … Biden, who is contending for one third of the caucus goers who call themselves moderate or conservative can’t match Bernie’s potential.”

It's also hard to predict the impact of three candidates stuck in DC for the impeachment trial.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Also hard to predict the possible impact of disaffected Trump voters who have decided to support a Dem this time.

Not after he predicted Rand Paul would be the Republican nominee in 2016 because . . . 'that's his job, that's what he does for a living.' Said with a straight face by Chris Matthews.

My husband and I still laugh about it.

For that part. No interest in hearing what he has to say about Sanders. Caucuses favor the healthier and wealthier and those with free time and lots of energy. Like Washington state, the vigor of Sanderssupportersand their physical presence may win sometimes, but when people are allowed to vote irregardless of their mobility status, age and the need to work three jobs or care for kids or the elderly, Sanders often loses, as he did when Washington State had an actual primary. Nit to relive 2016, but if Sanders pulls out the nomination I believe we are assured of four more years of Trump.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
