to believe Warren's side of the story ….He asked Warren to run for President in 2015 .. Yet we are asked to buy the daft notion that Bernie doesn't believe a woman can get elected President of the United States … Warren and her camp's attempts to portray Bernie as a sexist is a betrayal of the highest order, not just to Berne Sanders, but the entire Progressive Movement he leads ….My religious faith demands that I must forgive , but I shall not forget ….Millions of Progressive Activists will not forget...… Bernie did not deserve this political kneecapping ...

Many people have voiced similar concerns about 2020.

I don't happen to agree with those people.

I find Warren's statement entirely believable.

I personally do not consider any voters progressive who are not prioritizing parity for women in all political offices.

Our history demonstrates tat the needs and rights of women and children have never been sufficiently addressed by having a preponderance of offices held by males, and our entire culture continues to be damaged by the failure to prioritize equality.

Now, both seem to believe 100% in their version of what happened. In fact, both of them might think they are being honest about what they are saying. Some have suggested that Sanders may have been speaking of the difficulty of a woman facing Trump - referencing how he treated Hillary Clinton. (Note that it is not at all clear that Trump would not treat a man in an equally despicable way.)

Many of us have had conversations with someone where we went away hurt at something said that we did not respond to clearly at the time. I do believe that something was said. It would have been so much better had Warren - any time after the conversation - had a private conversation with Bernie to tell him how offended she was by his comment. At which point, I would assume that Sanders would have told her he never meant that a woman could not win the Presidency. (Even better, that a woman could beat Trump.) This never should have become a public spat.

Before the debate, the word was that BOTH wanted to deescalate this. What surprises me is that knowing this would be asked, the two campaigns and the candidates could have scripted how to respond when either was asked in a way that called neither a liar and which left both looking good.

Sanders went first - so he could have set the tone better than he did. I suspect the problem and why BOTH of them are angry is that both are people who pride themselves on honesty and it is their honesty that is being publicly challenged. Imagine Sanders would have said he remembered what he said differently and that he thought she could win the Presidency - as could any (many) of the Democrats running. (I think he has said the latter - I know other candidates have.) This would have enabled Warren to back off - probably by thanking him and possibly adding that she was glad that the misunderstanding that had troubled her was resolved.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

threat to him for the nomination among progressives.

The argument some are making is that from Sanders past he has expressed positive views regarding a woman being president.

That argument does not hold water though. There are plenty of examples where someone says one thing, and actually has a different perspective.

The Me Too movement exposed a lot of examples of this

57. This is exactly why I think these debates are counter-productive-

The Dems give thoughtful evidence for their proposed policies, point out small differences between them as if they're huge, and "get" each other on something from the past, and three of them have very long pasts to mine! And the media then goes on a 3-day tear about how Sanders and Warren didn't shake hands.

Meanwhile Trump is going along refusing to do press conferences or answer questions or testify under oath or turn over documents or let his people testify, and screeching insult and insanity in rallies to his base which are not reported honestly ("The president gave a wide-ranging speech in Milwaukee which addressed energy, foreign policy, and immigration&quot .

So on the very day that it's revealed that Trump's minions were stalking and perhaps discussing kidnapping or worse an ambassador, and that Trump authorized his personal nutso attorney to hold another country's security hostage unless they pretended to investigate his opponent, even MSNBC is spending much of their airtime on the "Sanders/Warren feud! Democrats in disarray!"

Stop the debates. Rethink the idea that the undecided voters and the media are interested in thoughtful policy discussions. Every debate so far has ended up generated these stupid "we hate each other" stories that lose votes.... and makes the problem seem Dem disarray rather than Trump insanity.
