WASHINGTON (AP) Jane OMeara Sanders, the wife of Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, has a clear message about the simmering dispute between her husband and Elizabeth Warren: Its over.
OMeara Sanders defended her husbands integrity during a Wednesday interview, but she declined to attack Warren or inflame the feud in any way a day after the Massachusetts senator reiterated during a nationally televised debate that Sanders, a Vermont senator, told her privately that a woman couldnt defeat President Donald Trump.
I think that this discussion is over, OMeara Sanders told The Associated Press.
The leading liberal presidential contenders have been trying to de-escalate the feud almost since Warren inexplicably made the explosive allegation on the eve of this weeks debate, claiming that Sanders questioned the viability of a female presidential candidate during a private conversation in 2018. The subsequent attempts to tamp down the conflict, from the candidates on the debate stage Tuesday night and from their chief surrogates on Wednesday, reflect the dangerous stakes surrounding a fight that threatens to tear apart the Democratic Partys progressive base less than three weeks before presidential primary voting begins.
OMeara Sanders said their campaign has no interest in promoting divisions like Trump does by gender, race or ethnicity.

REALLY? She should take a gander at Nina Turner's or David Sirota's or Briahna Gray's twitter accounts, rife with promoting divisions. They're the campaign's TOP spokespeople, and they thrive on divisiveness!

(13,776 posts)Full disclosure: I voted for Bernie in the 2016 primary. I think he's a good guy. All his life he's walked the walk. (And I think the whole thing with Elizabeth is 100% a misunderstanding--he probably said he didn't think a woman could win against Trump, because with Trump's contempt for women no holds would be barred, and Elizabeth misunderstood it as saying that a woman couldn't win the presidency. There is no way Bernie would have said that.)
I like Bernie very much. But damn does he have terrible taste in surrogates and high-level employees. To the point where I think some of them really are let-the-world-burn if it's anybody but him.
And with this misleading video of Biden coming right after the thing with Warren... they're right to want to let it go, but only because it's starting to look bad for them.

One of her team did.
Okay this is making more sense. You claimed she leaked it to make Bernie look bad. Now you post that it was one of her team. You are claiming she herself leaked it and are now questioning her judgment and since she was your second choice you are having second thoughts for something she never did.

just a taste:
It was Warren, in her 2004 book The Two-Income Trap, who recast the state of the American middle class. Those rising incomes? The result of families sending women into the workforce, which meant they now needed to pay for child care and had fewer options for rescue if anything happened to the primary breadwinner. Those cheap consumer goods? They didnt make up for the rising cost of housing, health insurance, and child care. And that informational plenty? It hadnt stopped predatory industries from bilking ordinary Americans.
a little more-
In 2010, the Roosevelt Institute held a conference at which Warren spoke, and the think tank released an e-book, with the stirring title Make Markets Be Markets. Warren was, at this point, pushing for the creation of a consumer protection agency. Willing a new federal agency into being is the kind of political project that can take generations. Congressional chairs and even US presidents spend their careers fighting, and failing, to achieve more modest institutional reforms. Warren faced yet longer odds. Her power was informal. She wasnt a US senator, a Cabinet secretary, or the president. She controlled no committees, commanded no voting blocs, owned no budgets, was the key vote on no legislation.

(113,065 posts)a bogus story on social media to cover up that the script dissing her was given to canvassers on Saturday morning by campaign organizers. For two days the conspiracy nut faction spread the idea that the script was anonymously posted on a Bernie board and Warren herself was being accused of setting Bernie up with that script.
Two days later the Sanders camp admitted the script was given to the canvassers by the campaign.
Why didnt the campaign apologize to Warren AND to Sanders for the script on Saturday instead of planting a conspiracy theory story? They know a faction of their supporters subscribe to the Pizzagate and Seth Rich murdered by Clinton conspiracies. They chose to gin things up with that planted story.
Warrens probably going to have to wear a bullet-proof vest for the rest of the campaign because of the deceitful manipulations of those running the social media actions for the Sanders camp.
Warren SHOULD be pissed.
Sanders needs to rein in the darker forces who are part of his campaign team.

(2,177 posts)control her anger in public. Whether the mic was on or not, other people were there, you could see it in her body language, the anger was palpable in her voice. When Hillary was on that stage with Trump, she got 10 times worse than what Warren got on Tuesday, and not once did I ever see her get angry. She laughed it off, brushed of her shoulder and moved on. That is presidential. If she can't control her anger in public with a colleague, how is she ever going to handle Trump. It just really angered me after how far we (women) have had to come to finally start being taken seriously as a presidential candidate, and she brings us back to those old stereotypes about how woman can't control their emotions.

Of course, in hindsight, many people thought Hillary should have gotten mad at him to brush him back visibly.

(67,782 posts)...she was forcefully expressing her concern that Sanders called her a liar. There's another "stereotype" about women, they should just sit in the corner and be quiet. Thankfully Warren wasn't having any part of that, just like Hillary Clinton. Remember her in 1992 when she spoke about NOT sitting home and baking cookies (and got bashed about it)?

In response to his suggestion that they discuss it later she says, "Anytime." She remains motionless, with her hands clasped loosely together. In contrast, Sanders shakes his finger in her face, speaks angrily, and then stalks off.

(7 posts)Mansplaining is used derisively to describe a man explaining something to a woman they already know in a patronizing way. Sander's wife is a woman, stating her opinion on the topic - that's it. I'm tired of the overuse of this term to the point people are now using it for women they don't agree with. It's absurd, and ironic in this case, since the term was originally meant to highlight how men sometimes shut down conversation in preference for their own viewpoints.
