WASHINGTON Just as many African-Americans say theyd consider voting for Bernie Sanders as Joe Biden, according to new a VICE News-Ipsos Poll, suggesting Sanders might not have as much of a problem wooing black voters if hes the Democratic nominee as some have assumed.
Fully 56% of African-Americans said theyd consider voting for Sanders in 2020 a statistical tie with the 54% who said the same about former Vice President Joe Biden and significantly higher than any other candidate.
Only 23% of African-Americans said they wouldnt consider voting for Sanders, about the same number as the 24% who said they wouldnt consider voting for Biden.
Sanders does even better relative to Biden and the rest of the field among Hispanics: 47% say theyd consider voting for Sanders, while 37% said theyd consider voting for Biden. More Hispanics say they wouldnt consider voting for Biden (37%) than wouldn't vote for Sanders (31%).

(3,649 posts)Not who they are currently supporting. The takeaway is that Bernie could pick up quite a bit of AA support in the future depending on how this shake out.

All of a sudden all these outlier polls, not buying any of it. The black voters did not just change overnight. I think we have some trolls on this site trying to peddle their BS. Wait until Biden signs on Harris for his VP. It will likely be over.

This is literally saying IF Bernie manages to win the nomination without the majority support of the AA community he might still be electable. Ok, I'm hopeful for the same and I want it to be true, but this has nothing to do with the current here and now.
