Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumHas Biden ever been interviewed as a candidate on MSNBC? Rachel? Lawrence?
AFAIK, no. (I watch Rachel nightly, maybe missing 1-2 shows a month, and dont recall seeing Biden on since the debates started in the summer- maybe he was on when he launched his campaign?)
Why not?
(Rachels interview of Warren tonight was great as usual, as have all her multiple interviews with all the other candidates...except Biden)

(11,108 posts)Then again, I'm a life-long Democrat still looking for who to support. Perhaps if I had made my choice for a candidate, I would find evidence MSNBC was biased against my chosen candidate.
I would assume that any Democratic candidate would jump at the chance to speak to Democrats - like me - who are still trying to decide who to support and who watch MSNBC. I also assume that if a Democratic candidate does not jump at that chance it's for a good reason. The question presented is what reason VP Biden perceives.
Assuming there is a bias on MSNBC, if VP Biden can't handle an interview with MSNBC, I worry that he cannot handle the kind of questions he will get from the rest of the media in a general election. If VP Biden cannot face the worst possible interview on MSNBC, he's not nearly as sharp as I think (or at least hope) him to be.
Mind you, he ought to stay away from Chris Matthews only because everyone should stay away from Chris Matthews until he learns to let people answer questions.

(49,034 posts)What I have heard, especially during prime time on MSNBC, is a lot of bias against him, promotion of other candidates while his front-runner status is virtually ignored.

(11,108 posts)Then again, I seem to have seen every Democratic candidate on MSNBC - except VP Biden.
I am reasonably certain that if VP Biden's press people suggested to MSNBc that he would appear, he could be on any show he wanted, whenever he wanted.
I would like to see VP Biden on MSNBC answering intelligent questions. I'm looking for a candidate who can handle the general election. If VP Biden appeared on MSNBC and made a good showing, he would go a long way toward proving his abilities.

(11,108 posts)My plan is to vote in the primary based on which candidate is polling best against Trump in the key battle ground states - whichever candidate it is.

(34,195 posts)I don't like/watch Rachel.
You get 10 minutes of dialogue,
followed by a TV commercial,
and then she gets to her point.

(15,656 posts)Before the summation or linkage to the point- something that is sorely missing from most coverage of most issues nowadays.
Kind of how Murrow and Cronkite used to report things.
Rachel is definitely not for folks with short attention spans.

(115,835 posts)It's not about her. It's about giving people an understanding of why some things are news, which is a rare gift. We bitch about superficial news coverage and whine about how "the media" suck; why would you bitch when someone makes the effort to provide the whole story and not just a headline?

(34,195 posts)Back in the day, they had 15 minutes to do the news.
Then they went to 30 minutes.
They got to the point, and didn't leave you hanging.

(15,656 posts)I dont think Murrow was a nightly news anchor anyway, he only did interviews/investigative/in depth reporting.
Maddow doesnt do the nightly news, in case you hadnt noticed.

(2,061 posts)You control your own actions and simply respond to the shit going around you. I am still of the opinion that Biden should not put himself in the position to answer unscripted questions. I think that is the biggest flaw of his campaign.

(15,656 posts)That is one of the most important aspects to this vetting process- that a candidate can demonstrate the ability to think on his/her feet, and respond to spontaneous situations.

Where is the wold did I say anyone doesn't have the ability to answer unscripted questions, as you suggest? You literally just made that up as if I said it.

That is what I was responding to. I think anyone who hopes to be our nominee should be able to answer unscripted questions.
