Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumWhat about Julian Castro as VP?
Would he help to make Texas more competitive? Im watching a recording of him on Rachel Maddow last night. It is a shame that he could not get any traction..

(5,008 posts)about thoughts regarding Castro as VP. Never said a word about a female candidate. I want the best person (male or female) that will help our ticket. However, I do prefer a young VP pick because of Bidens (my pick as candidate) age.

(9,199 posts)And Texans really liked Beto, but Castro went after him and wouldn't let him talk in the first debate.
Castro was shouting about some arcane issue in immigration. Nobody knew what he was talking about, but he shouted Beto down anyway. And the press reaction was brutal - to Beto - who really is a nice guy.

(391 posts)I liked Castro; he was an effective mayor and brought immigration issues to the forefront.
I lost some respect when he played the senile card with Biden.

(2,406 posts)A woman has to be on the ticket, either as president or vice president. In fact, I don't think the Democratic Party will ever have an all-male ticket ever again.
So Castro has a chance only if Warren or Klobuchar is the presidential nominee. But I think neither would be well served by picking him. There are better candidates available (e.g., Cory Booker or Sherrod Brown). They would help much more than Castro, who hasn't really shown much strength in Texas or among Latinos or much talent as a campaigner, and (IMHO) would be more valuable as governing partners.

(1,615 posts)Shes a solid competent Senator and would make a good VP.
Personally, I think theres a better than 50% chance that Joe will choose either Mitt Romney or John Kasich. Hes told us numerous times about his undying love for working with Republicans and how he hopes they dont get clobbered because we need them to balance things out.
Once he has the nomination sewed up I expect him to go hard to the center-right. Im pretty sure that, in Bidens mind, the Soul of America wont include any ideas that would make his big-money contributors uncomfortable.
