Klobuchar Responds to Missile Strike That Killed Iranian Leader Qassem Soleimani

(KNSI) - Minnesota Senator and 2020 Presidential hopeful Amy Klobuchar has issued a statement on the United States' missle strike at Baghdad Airport, which killed Iranian Commander Qassem Soleimani early Friday morning.

Klobuchar took to her Twitter account blaming Soleimani for directing Iran's destabalization acts throughout the middle east, including Iraq. She also blamed him for attacking U.S. forces, but goes on to say that the timing, manner and potential conseqences of the deadly airstrike raise serious questions and concerns about an escalating conflict. The immediate focus of Congress now should be ensuring all necessary security measures are taken to protect the U.S. military and diplomatic presence in Iraq and across the region. She also asked the administration to consult with Congress regarding response plans and strategies for preventing a wider conflict.
