A question for those of you who were set on Kamala Harris only..

Since Kamala is out, (and believe me, I had my heart set on voting for her), I have no idea who to go with, so I am asking those who were for Kamala, who they like now? Could you state who
you like now, and why you think they would be a good replacement, thanks.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I was surprised as much as anyone else that Kamala just failed to get out of the starting blocks. Added to the massive difference between Joe and herself on healthcare, it may not be so straight forward.

There were a number of "controversial" cases that for many were signs she was not liberal enough to be our nominee. Which is BS imho. I think she was just doing her job and being an AG for any length of time there would no doubt be controversial cases. Damn shame as I think she would have been a great candidate in the general and would have made a fantastic President.

It was the flip flop on private healthcare that left her floundering, and indeed she seemed react to mark Warren on M4A rather than have a coherent policy of her own. To be aligned with Biden, she should move asap to reassess her position on this, so it will be a closed issue by next July.

I didn't feel she had a good response to the criticisms. And if she can't spurn attacks like that, how could she hold up to bogus attacks from Trump?

I suspect she will be a far better candidate in some future election.

is that VP us usually used to help capture a state that is in play but California will go blue, regardless.

Stacy Abrams is a Woman Of Color and also brings the South.

Nothing to do with the qualifications of Senator Harris at all, and I'd love to watch her annihilating Pence in debate.

Personally, I think Sen Harris would make a kick-ass Secretary Of State.

I believe he is the person who can most importantly beat Trump and who has the necessary experience and will be a great statesman. I chose him too because I think he will continue much of what Obama worked on putting in place and will work with Congress and know how to work with the Senate. I think he will appoint great Judges.

I believe he will choose a great VP - hopefully Kamala Harris. But if not, someone that we can know and trust and be a great VP and future President.

That is what I feel and believe and why I chose Biden after Kamala dropped out.

There's no "replacing" Kamala, she was one of a kind and it was a real loss when she left the race. Currently, I'm leaning Klobuchar or Biden (I do like Castro too, but I don't think he's going to make it). I think Biden will be the nominee and I hope he chooses Kamala as his VP. Of course, I will support the democratic candidate in the general.

I've always liked him, and the only reason I remain "undecided" here is just that I think these races start way too soo,. I may make an official commitment before the first primary, but certainly before the California primary because that's where I live. I also think he's more likely than some others to choose Kamala as the VP. His age will focus a lot on his VP selection, as would Sanders or Warren's pick for VP.

It was tough finding a replacement for who I thought she would be.

She was my choice as well. But I don't take it as any kind of loss since she is, after all, our Senator.

One of my kids and my brother-in-law follow politics much more closely than I do, paying a lot more attention to political strategy, so I'll be listening to them when I choose another candidate. But for now I'm undecided.

While a Biden / Harris ticket would be great... adding someone from a locked up state doesn't make much sense. So a Biden / Abrams ticket or a Biden / Klobachar ticket is now, to me, the most likely.

But whatever the ticket is... that is the ticket I will give money to and work for and vote for.

She's exceptional, but has time. I was quite touched when I saw her walk across Steven Colbert's stage early on -- I had this sudden flash about her body language, which I found very free. Something in me said: "This is Hillary without 30 years of abuse." Hillary weighs every syllable before she utters it, and she's on guard all the time. I know Kamala is also careful in what she says, but she feels less "guarded."

It was easy for me to switch to Joe, and for me it's all summed up in his opening campaign video about Charlottesville and the soul of America. It brought both of us to tears, and I thought: he really gets it. Our fathers' generation fought and died to wipe out Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, and THIS is what we get in the US in our own old age? Hell no.

We have some really good people running, as always. Most of them are even Democrats (snark snark), but here's my elimination process. I'm not interested in the two old billionaires, as they entered late and it feels like vanity-campaigns. They could put their money to much better use helping us fight another billionaire: Zuckerberg of Facebook. Tulsi "The Mole" comes from my home state, but she ain't no Barack Obama, and will cause us grief as a spoiler/third party. Bernie is a force to be reckoned with, and he keeps getting concessions from the party he doesn't want to be a member of -- fine, but would it hurt him to say "thanks" once in awhile?

Gotta go -- but they are all interesting people.

Welcome back, Yui, and have a healthy new year.
