characterizing this as a "coy suggestion" is ... coming from some other place.

1) a standing VP is very often expected to run. Especially off the legacy of a very popular 2 term president. i.e., there was some legitimate expectation (and push) for Biden to run.
and 2) Biden was dealing with a devastating death in his family at the time, which ultimately led to the decision that he didn't the heart or stomach necessary for the task at the time.

I find your, "coyingly suggesting jumping in" in exceedingly poor taste. Not to mention pretty revisionary of the facts

Sun Dec 29, 2019, 05:12 PM

I’ve always thought Hillary is great when it comes to policy, doing actual work (first lady, senator, SoS), working on bills, etc. She is not a great politician - campaigner because, to her detriment, she is too honest but in a way that is not easy to see for most people. Biden does connect better and he is a better politician but it does not mean he would be a better president. There is no contradiction here. There has been a smear campaign against Hillary going on for decades now. But she herself did little to take those deplorables to task by suing for libel and defamation, demand discovery and testimony under oath. So the outrageous rw conspiracy worked on a lot of people (including quite a few bernie supporters on this very forum) Again, a good politician may have done that but, for some reason, Clinton believes that voters are smart and can see though it. You can say it but you should never rely on it. So let’s remember that a candidate/politican/campaigner is not the same as great elected official.

of overt and subliminal smears. Hell I even thought in the back of mind she had baggage to overcome. And you had to stop and slap your face and think ..stop it..it was all manufactured.

Thinking back to her testifying on Benghazi...think she was the last one who actually believed that the system of knowledge is key and "right vs wrong" was actually still alive in our government and society.

According to Harvard's Shorenstein Center. "If she had a policy agenda, it was not apparent in the news. Her lengthy record of public service also received scant attention."

I remember watching ABC News the day after the election and it was the first time they put the two party's plans side by side. The anchor looked a little uncomfortable.

I was just reading a long Daily Kos thread from 2016 about health care, and so many people had everything wrong about the ACA, about President Obama and going on and on about the imaginary criminal career of Hillary "Wall Street" Clinton. The people who took the time to try to educate this massive ignorance are saints. But we still see exactly the same stuff today.

I just watched Kansas City beat the LA Chargers. They weren't great but they weren't terrible.

So what was up with your OP with all the disparaging names of the Democratic candidates that used the comma to denote decimals as Europeans use?

Where did you find that?

Obama especially, whether candidates or president.

Never getting the mote out of their own eyes, the Trump/GOP/media tack has always been to target the Democrat for her/his lack of total perfection.

We need to run SO many party ads to the contrary --
about Trump lies,
broken promises,
broken laws and immorality over the border,
net tariffs losses,
golfing costs,
secret phone calls,
secret meetings,
secret servers
Russian contributions to ALL the GOP Senators and Trump
-- where the ads end with, "and you think a DEMOCRAT is imperfect??" [ominous music]

with ads blocking gop’s ability to buy ads. I have a suspicion that this is his goal from the getgo, he has no chance of winning the nomination, but he is willing to spend billions on antri trump ads without violating campaign finance laws (e.g. donating to Biden’s campaign). Steyer is doing similar but he is poor compared to bloomberg. It will literally take billions to saturate ad markets.

People are still fatigued from 2016 so why remind them 24/7 about it again. Not to mention, Hillary would bring absolutely nothing to the ticket in terms of extra votes. Biden will have plenty of options for VP but the most important criterion is who can draw extra votes and generate extra enthusiasm. Abrams, Pete, Warren, Harris, etc.? I believe Stacey Abrams pick would be lethal to GOP and her focus on voter suppression is so needed on national level with sustained coverage. It is so easy to kill GOP’s narrative that voter fraud is on dem side by bringing stats on how many people got actually convicted for voter fraud (close to 0, lol) and bring real stats on voter rolls and expulsions - plenty of data. It’s not covered much in the media, but it would be if she is a VP pick who laser sharp focuses on the single most important issue. No point talking about how we can achieve all other stuff without addressing voting access.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
