Amy Klobuchar's First 100 Days

Snip

Get the United States back in the International Climate Agreement on day one. On day one of Senator Klobuchar’s presidency she will get us back into the International Climate Change Agreement, working so that the United States maintains global leadership to address the climate crisis.

Immediately suspend the Trump Administration’s efforts to eliminate the Affordable Care Act’s protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Senator Klobuchar will immediately suspend all Trump Administration efforts — both in federal court and at the Department of Health and Human Services — that would allow insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Rebuild our relationship with our allies and restore America’s standing in the world. To rebuild the relationship with our allies that President Trump has undermined, Senator Klobuchar’s first international trips as President will be to Canada and Europe to begin restoring trust with our most important allies.

Immediately allow for the safe importation of prescription drugs from countries like Canada. Americans pay double what Canadians do for some prescription drugs, which is why Senator Klobuchar will use existing Food and Drug Administration authority to grant a waiver that allows people to import safe prescription drugs for personal use from countries like Canada to decrease drug costs for seniors and all Americans.

with the various congressional scenarios the people might give her to work with and, with her experience, know how to make it happen.

Promises from candidates with proven records of achievement like Senator Klobuchar's mean incredibly more than from nonachievers.

Go get 'em, Klobuchar!

but it also sounds exactly like what any generic democrat would do in their first 100 days.

Also, I'm noticing that her plan would be two executive actions and a foreign policy trip to some of the most receptive places. Why wouldn't you take advantage of your mandate and the most political capital you are likely to have in your presidency and get something through congress. It doesn't have to be something lofty like universal healthcare, but do something to break the ice, something that everyone claims to want to do.

I think you use your first 100 days to finally get a comprehensive infrastructure bill. It's one of the most popular bills with the public and there isn't a congressman or senator who will come out and say that they aren't in favor of it. What do you do if republicans try to block it? Well, thanks to Donald Trump we now have a precedent for declaring national emergencies to reallocate money to projects that haven't been approved by congress. You simply threaten to declare a national emergency in infrastructure, which is far more true than any claim to an emergency in immigration. This would give republicans a lot of motivation to get onboard so that they have influence on how and where the monies are spent. Every congressman is going to want to be able to go home and claim they got a piece of that bill in their district, and they aren't going to want to have to run against a challenger constantly badgering them with ads about how they didn't help to improve the roads/bridges/schools/etc in the district.

Get that bill done and you have already established that you can work with them and that it's ok for them to vote on a bill you put to them.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
