Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
Biden releases new Iowa ads on healthcare (YouTube videos of the 3 ads included)
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/meet-the-press/blog/meet-press-blog-latest-news-analysis-data-driving-political-discussion-n988541/ncrd1101251#blogHeaderDES MOINES, Iowa Joe Biden's campaign began running its eighth television ad in Iowa Friday morning emphasizing the candidate's focus on health care a top issue for a majority of voters in 2020. The ad, combined with supplemental digital ads, is the latest in a $4 million investment in ad buys in Iowa from November through caucus day on February 3.
"Protect" will air on television in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids and on Hulus streaming service statewide. It plays like a general election ad, directly hitting President Trumps effort to destroy Obamacare, while touting Bidens plan to build on that health law and reminding viewers that he helped pass the Affordable Care Act with President Obama in the first place. Bidens health care plan would expand Obamacare by adding a public option but also allowing voters to keep their private insurance if they want it.
"Trust" and another complementary video will run on social media platforms statewide. Trust features Charlene Harmon, a supporter from Ankeny, who received a cancer diagnosis but luckily had insurance that covered her recovery. Harmon credits Joe Bidens empathy when discussing her support.
-snip-
The second video is an addition to the campaigns On the Road with Joe series, highlighting conversations the former vice president has on the rope line following campaign events, including an interaction where a woman from Davenport told Biden that the ACA saved her sons life. (Differing from the previous two ads somber soundtrack, this ad also plays out under the song, High Hopes by Panic At The Disco!, which is notably Mayor Pete Buttigiegs anthem on the campaign trail).
The latter two ads emphasize the campaigns messaging in recent weeks, which is Bidens empathy and ability to connect with those who have suffered. Along the eight-day No Malarkey bus tour route through Iowa, many voters brought up Bidens empathy as a selling factor. During the bus tour, Biden heavily stressed his commitment to strengthening rural communities by recognizing the difficulty they face in accessing quality health care.

(8,144 posts)1. We must protect Obamacare, Medicaid, and Medicare as these are the programs millions depend
upon regardless of how we implement universal healthcare in the future should some policy get passed. We do not know what such a policy will look like or when it will be passed and how long until roll-out. In any case, people will need healthcare in the interim between now and any massive overhaul.
I would like to see all candidates commit to protecting and improving those systems we must continue to rely upon for some years forward.
