It is interesting to me that Abrams was actually in Gulfport, MS the same time I was (she was ten years younger). I also wonder if she still has any family network from her birthplace in Wisconsin. She is also a Harry S. Truman scholar like my old debate partner.

I think Stacey Abrams would play better in the Midwest. She has had the correct focus on voter rights since being screwed in the Governor's race. She has a clear path to the VP nomination since she is not tied up in the Senate race. She almost won a Georgia statewide race which is quite impressive.

I think it will come down to polling in Wisconsin. Klobuchar might play better in Wisconsin. That has to be the primary consideration for VP.

We have to win it first. I think we need someone younger and able to be ready to run when the time comes. It has to be someone without a lot of baggage, good campaigner, and someone willing to accept the role of VP. We have a few who don't fit that bill.

Thu Dec 12, 2019, 03:03 PM
Dec 2019

They are, obviously, for very different reasons.

Biden needs no political support as his career has been nothing but national politics. For a long time. But he would need help in energizing the electorate. Abrams could do that, plus she comes from a state that is not unwinnable (kinda) with her on the ticket.

Warren, while not necessarily needing support, is essentially a single-issue candidate. Sherrod Brown is fantastic at amplifying that message, and again, his state is valuable and might be in play with him on the ticket.

The downside to Brown is that he's a valuable Senator, and Ohio is basically red now. He would be replaced by a Republican, and that would hurt.
