Biden is one of several candidates that I am swinging between -- I had chosen candidates twice, but am now sticking with undecided until I can genuinely say I am decided and will stay that way.

I figured it would be good for Biden people to see. I was impressed for the case made that Biden's contacts would speed improving relationships. While his experience is what he is running on, they did an excellent job detailing what that actually means. I have heard Kerry speak of the need to build trust to succeed in getting diplomatic solutions before, but never thought of it in the context that Biden has met everyone and they've known him for years.

I noticed Joe has a cough! Trump will have him on his death bed like he did with Hillary!
You're right, it was a good interview.

(59,504 posts)Having gone to VA for Thanksgiving via NYC from VT, it seemed that many many people were coughing at rest stops etc. As a candidate, Biden is shaking millions of hands.
I was impressed by the strength of the case that Kerry made. It is tough for someone to make as strong a case for themselves as a respected person could make for them. Biden would be attacked for arrogance. I liked that (from other sources) Kerry made a point of praising the entire field while making the case for why he is endorsing Biden.
Were lucky to have a group of candidates who are people of principles and values - they are, all of them, Kerry added. But there are some distinct things that make Joe Biden the person that I believe we need to have.

No matter who is ultimately the nomination, it is better that all our candidates are seen as being good people - they will become the advocates of the nominee.

(47,567 posts)he caught a cold or some bug. The campaign trail can be brutal.
You're right, it is hard to sell yourself without sounding arrogant. He needs surrogates to lavish deserved praise on him.

(21 posts)"Swift Boat" "Lurch" Kerry, who was my anti-Bush vote in '04, on the stump in NH for The Joe. Still smart. I just hope The Joe picks Bernie or Elizabeth for his VP. Or Cory, Or Julian, even Amy.

Kerry was far more than "anti-Bush" for me. In all past years, after the first hype for the nominee, as the campaigns wore on, I saw minor flaws that somewhat diminished my original opinion. (ie Clinton was terrible in 1992 on environmental issues) In 2004, the more I read about Kerry the more I learned he had done and saw that he really was an amazing statesman. I think many people did not see that until he was SoS and was instrumental in getting the US/China climate deal and the Paris Accord. I know many people worked on these, but he really was the essential person without whom it would not happen. The same was true of the Iran nuclear deal. In addition, he created the Our Oceans international conferences that are still continuing and are taking steps to make the oceans healthier. As his time as SoS ended, many of our allies gave him some very prestigious awards because of his work.

(581 posts)What annoys me a little is seeing young people who in 2004 were too young to witness the dirty smears of Kerry act like he was an easy pushover who doomed the party the moment he got nominated. The attacks on a war hero were vicious yet in spite of that all that stopped him becoming the 44th president was a 2% margin in Ohio.

(804 posts)for EXACTLY the reasons so many of us are supporting Joe. We do have a group of wonderful candidates, but I do believe Joe is the one who will beat Trump in the electoral college. I think it was mentioned that world leaders trust Biden, and as importantly, respect him. Unlike the Orange Buffoon. No wonder this is the candidate Trump is most worried about.
