The former New York City mayor is taking an unorthodox move of skipping the early presidential primary states of Iowa and New Hampshire completely while dumping millions of dollars of his massive fortune on Super Tuesday states, including the Golden State. That strategy isnt lost on anyone in California who has turned on a TV this month.
But other millionaires and billionaires whove tried to spend staggering sums to win Senate seats or the governors office in California have flamed out most spectacularly tech executive Meg Whitman, who burned a record $141 million of her own money on her failed 2010 governors bid.
The political roadways of California are littered with the bodies of candidates who tried to buy their way into office, said Garry South, a Democratic strategist who ran successful campaigns against several self-funding candidates.

...will not be buying what Bloomberg is selling. Stop and Frisk alone makes his candidacy untenable.
