A great example of what religion in politics SHOULD be - Buttigieg.

Jim Wallis: You have talked more about Jesus than any other candidate — Republican or Democratic, why?

Pete Buttigieg: Because I think it's important and because I fear that there's been an effort to recruit Jesus into one political party, the Republican Party. And of course, God doesn't belong to a political party in this country. And as Lincoln said, everybody's trying to get God on their side, but you're probably better off trying to make sure you're on God's side. But I think we just need to even out the conversation. And there's an allergy in my party to doing this. And the allergy comes from a very healthy place, which is that we've seen what happens when people are subjected to other people's interpretation of their own faith.

Matthew 22:21 Jesus said "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's." Romans 13:1 "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. Separation of church and state is essential. This makes me lose trust in buttigeig.

It's an important part of life for fhe majority of Americans.

It's a mistake to cede this to republicans because they do use it to influence people. This is smart.

... I like to ask "Why is there something and not nothing?" Or "What created the matter that produced the big bang?" It's questions like these that cause lots of physicists to be religious.

Most physicists don't look at the Big Bang as a religious event:

Because the universe also began as a singularity, time itself could not have existed before the Big Bang. Hawking's answer, then, to what happened before the Big Bang is, "there was no time before the Big Bang."

"We have finally found something that doesn’t have a cause, because there was no time for a cause to exist in," Hawking wrote. "For me this means that there is no possibility of a creator, because there is no time for a creator to have existed in."

...continues to be considered a virtue, but we're slowly making progress. This, of course, makes the likes of Bannon, Barr and Pompeo all the more desperate and extremist. They desperately want to bring about a pre-Enlightenment fascist theocracy before it's too late.
