....."$0 tuition". Plus, the people paying for that $10,230 are those who are actually attending college and gaining the benefit of the education, not everyone in the country.

This issue isn't quite as simple as these snapshots.

Denmark's is 55%, Finland's is 51%, Iceland's is 45%. Norway's is 40%, but they have a high VAT plus a lot of money from Equinor, the state-controlled oil exploration company. We are not likely to achieve comparable revenue through taxation. These countries have accepted high taxes as the cost of their "free" stuff, but Americans are infamously tax-averse.

And college is not really free anywhere because students still have to pay for room, board, books and other expenses, and the cost of living in the Scandinavian countries tends to be high. In Sweden, for example, tuition is free but 85% of students graduate with debt due to other expenses. https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/05/the-high-price-of-a-free-college-education-in-sweden/276428/

So it's all apples and oranges, or maybe bourbon and akvavit.

Does the plan outline taxes will be 40 to 60% ?

Cause if it doesn’t, that $0 is highly misleading.

There *is* no free lunch.
