Joe Biden's eventful week leaves him looking more durable than before

NBC News

WASHINGTON — Some days, as we’ve written over the past few months, Democratic co-frontrunner Joe Biden looks much weaker than the conventional wisdom suggests.

Other days, he looks much more durable than what you read on Twitter.

And this week, Biden’s been in the latter category — he’s looked pretty strong when it comes to the fundamentals on paper. Certainly stronger than in his debate performances.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Yes he does. And it's unfortunate that the debates have become what you say, "performances".... George II Dec 2019 #2

His polling on the national level has been within a couple of points of 28% since July. As much as some DUers have argued to the contrary, his base hasn't changed much, if at all, in that five months.

Warren seems to have peaked early, and I find her decline a bit perplexing.

Sanders continues to hover around 15%, as he has for months. Unless he finds support outside his base, I don't see him being a threat once the voting starts. A lot depends on which side of the magic 15% he ends up on in the individual states.

Mayor Pete's recent gains are a bit of a wild card, though the next few weeks will show whether it's a temporary bump, a la Warren or Harris, or if it's a trend.

It's going to be an interesting couple of months.

If I wanted to see a "performance" I'd go to Carnegie Hall.
