Is a candidate grabbing a potential Dem voter, or any stranger, by the shoulders ever ok?

People Who Want to Ban Fracking Immediately, Says Joe Biden, 'Oughta Vote for Someone Else'
"Might I recommend Bernie Sanders: the climate candidate," responds Vermont senator's press secretary.

snip

"No, no, I know," the Sunrise activist patiently explains as Biden grabs him by the shoulders. "But she also worked—"

"If you look at my record," Biden begins, "look at my record. Just look at my record."

The two discuss fracking as well. Biden tells the activist that "you can't ban fracking right now" because "you gotta transition away from it."

"You're gonna ban fracking all across America, right now, right?" Biden asks the Sunrise activist.

"I would love to," the activist replies.

"Status quo is a Latin phrase meaning the existing state of affairs, particularly with regard to social or political issues. In the sociological sense, it generally applies to maintain or change existing social structure and values. With regard to policy debate, the status quo refers to how conditions are at the time and how the affirmative team can solve these conditions for example "The countries are now trying to maintain a status quo with regards to their nuclear arsenal which will help them if the situation gets any worse."

Bernie Sanders Attacks Elizabeth Warren As A Corporate Democrat

Bernie Sanders is now claiming that since moderate Democrats are coming around on Elizabeth Warren, she is a corporate Democrat.

Bernie Sanders

@BernieSanders

The cat is out of the bag. The corporate wing of the Democratic Party is publicly "anybody but Bernie." They know our progressive agenda of Medicare for All, breaking up big banks, taking on drug companies and raising wages is the real threat to the billionaire class.

Either way, when asked, Warren told Cooper, “Bernie and I have been friends forever, long before I ever got involved in politics, I went up to Vermont and did town halls with Bernie. I’ve given Bernie much of my work when the housing crash was coming. So I’m always glad to be anywhere with Bernie.”

SNIP

In a New York Times op-ed, which admittedly criticizes the two, columnist Frank Bruni wrote, “You were expecting the two of them to fight each other, because they have overlapping fan bases and because both of them want the progressive mantle? Hah. They were too busy doing battle with the candidates flanking them.”

BuzzFeed News similarly reported after the debate: “Few really expected Warren and Sanders, the highest-polling candidates in the first of two Democratic debates this week, to go after each other here in Detroit. The two senators, both dominant and at ease onstage, instead worked in lockstep at points to bat back moderate critics, even as moderators attempted to incite a conflict between the two big-name progressives.”

Their intentions were clear, even before the night started. When asked before the debate about debating against Sanders, she told reporters in Ohio, “Look, I’m not against anyone. Bernie and I have been friends forever.”

Where I live, there is a somewhat higher percentage of autistic people in the population. And many of those on the spectrum vote -- and even go to campaign events and ask questions.

But that doesn't mean they want to be grabbed. (Neither do the more common introverts who care about politics.)

https://www.spectrumnews.org/features/deep-dive/social-touch-shapes-autism-traits/

Even the slightest touch can consume Kirsten Lindsmith’s attention. When someone shakes her hand or her cat snuggles up against her, for example, it becomes hard for her to think about anything else. “I’m taken out of the moment for however long the sensation lasts,” she says. Some everyday sensations, such as getting her hands wet, can feel like torture: “I usually compare it to the visceral, repulsive feeling you’d get plunging your hand into a pile of rotting garbage,” says the 27-year-old autistic writer.

SNIP

Strong reactions to touch are remarkably widespread among people who have autism, despite the condition’s famed heterogeneity. “The touch thing is as close to universal as they come,” says Gavin Bollard, an autistic blogger who lives in Australia and writes about his and his autistic sons’ experiences. These responses are often described as a general hypersensitivity, but they are more complex than that: Sometimes autistic people crave touch; sometimes they cringe from it. For many people on the spectrum, these sensations are so intense that they take measures to shape their ‘touchscape.’ Some pile on heavy blankets at night for the extra weight; others cut off their clothing tags.

The common thread may be an altered perception of ‘affective touch,’ a sense discovered in people only a few decades ago. ‘Discriminative touch’ tells us when something impinges on our skin, with what force and where; affective touch, by contrast, conveys nuanced social and emotional information. The kinds of touch that autistic people may find loathsome, such as a soft caress, are associated with this latter system.

And I said that it wouldn't be okay for many autistic people or introverts. And you can't tell who might be autistic or an introvert by looking at them.
