Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumMedia in full force effort to take a progressive away from us!
Must go to the middle bs on full display: the American people will never vote for..... etc. In fact its the middle of the road that causes us to lose elections. The countrys energy is PROGRESSIVE! We are so far right right now that we are an oligarchy bordering dictatorship. A true middle is here: from AOC:
Reminder of what people are calling the radical, extreme-left agenda:
✅ Medicare for All
✅ A Living Wage & Labor Rights
✅ K-16 schooling, aka Public Colleges
✅ 100% Renewable Energy
✅ Fixing the pipes in Flint
✅ Not Hurting Immigrants
✅ Holding Wall Street Accountable

(14,823 posts)Just one example of many on fox alone. I'm not saying they own individual reporters in all cases, but they surely own the moguls like murdoch.
These billionaires live target rich lifestyles and putin has been working on them for years - likely since he was in the kgb.
There is an unmistakable pattern of russian influence in major news reporting, and it isn't because of trump. Own the head, and the tentacles will follow.
And bernie was their chosen foil in 2016. They paid for a lot of ads supporting him and driving wedges between his camp and clintons. It's going to happen again. It's happening already.
They will target anyone who is ahead, and leave bernie unscathed... Until the general. Then they will take him apart. They see him as the easiest candidate to beat (that can actually make it to nomination).

(315 posts)Corporate media has sidelined progressive voices for a very long time. It's only gotten worse.
Have you considered the possibility that people are being screwed by neoliberal policies and support Sanders or Warren's policies?
Also you are using the word "foil" incorrectly.

(68,643 posts)lifting. There is no evidence that progressive ideas will win...look at the midterms...look at the most recent elections...it borders on wishful thinking to believe this...there is much work to be done in winning the country over.

Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America,
and embraces the democratic socialist label as part of her political identity.

(68,643 posts)And as for the rest...much of it is not that popular. And folks worry about how high the taxes will go. It is not the media...they have been pulling for Warren and lately Buttigeig (and against Sanders and Biden) through much of this primary, but now they can't continue to claim she is the front runner because most polls if not all show she is not. But the bottom line for many is this...can she win a general? vote blue no matter who.

(58,785 posts)Youre talking about something else, more zealous, Wanting to do more sooner, but not more progressive.
And what seems like sympathy for what the zealots are calling for is because what they want is what the Democratic Party is doing.
The next governments will be majority Republican or majority Democrat. Those are the reality. Want progressivism, Call call for a bigger changes all you want, but vote Democrat. And tell others to also.
