Joe Biden says Stacey Abrams, Sally Yates could be potential VP picks while speaking in Iowa

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/elections/presidential/caucus/2019/11/22/joe-biden-possible-vice-president-stacey-abrams-sally-yates/4276980002/

Winterset, IA — Former Vice President Joe Biden on Friday night identified several prominent Democratic women who he said could serve as his vice president if he is elected president.

At a town hall, Biden was asked who his vice presidential pick would be if he wins the Democratic nomination.

"You. Are you available?" Biden joked to the questioner, before giving a serious answer.

Biden didn't name anyone specifically but said there are a number of people who are qualified.

"I could start naming people but the press will think that’s who I picked," he said, before obliquely referring to several potential candidates.

His list included "the former assistant attorney general who got fired," referring to Sally Yates; "the woman who should have been the governor of Georgia," referring to Stacey Abrams; and "the two senators from the state of New Hampshire," referring to U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan.

-snip-

Biden also expounded on his own relationship with President Barack Obama, for whom he served as vice president. He said the most important thing is to pick a running mate who aligns with you philosophically and who you can trust with big assignments.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

That is interesting. I know people have been pointing to GA as a future swing state, the way they pointed at NC a decade-plus ago. Is Biden really thinking about that, or is just a coincidence that they're from the same state?

From a practical standpoint she won't be seriously considered for VP …… I don't believe she can run for 2 federal offices at the same time ...You can do so in Texas ...LBJ and Lloyd Bentsen ran for reelection and VP in the same year ...If Jeanne bowed out in her Senate run in favor of the Vice-Presidency , it would put another Senate seat in play ….She is highly favored to win reelection in 2020.....

Biden running with a strong progressive Dem woman would be an awesome ticket. With almost half of men saying they wouldn't vote for a woman president, I can see trump running a very sexist campaign if a woman would be at the top of the ticket. Do I like it? Hell no, but I'm a realist. We have to beat trump. A woman VP would be aligned to be President. She would show those who are backward that woman can do the job. Yeah I know it sucks, but here we are.
