"You. Are you available?" Biden joked to the questioner, before giving a serious answer.
Biden didn't name anyone specifically but said there are a number of people who are qualified.
"I could start naming people but the press will think thats who I picked," he said, before obliquely referring to several potential candidates.
His list included "the former assistant attorney general who got fired," referring to Sally Yates; "the woman who should have been the governor of Georgia," referring to Stacey Abrams; and "the two senators from the state of New Hampshire," referring to U.S. Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan.

Biden also expounded on his own relationship with President Barack Obama, for whom he served as vice president. He said the most important thing is to pick a running mate who aligns with you philosophically and who you can trust with big assignments.

(14,972 posts)That is interesting. I know people have been pointing to GA as a future swing state, the way they pointed at NC a decade-plus ago. Is Biden really thinking about that, or is just a coincidence that they're from the same state?

(11,611 posts)I think Amy K. would be another excellent pick. And I might catch hell for this, but Beto would be my wild card pick for him. Kamala would make a terrific Attorney General.

No for Kamala as AG. We need her in our number in the Senate. The Senate is crucial and we can't drain it for cabinet posts.

(4,356 posts)I know I haven't been around this board much lately, but I've been following it. Just busy with personal stuff. I want to take this moment to thank you for so eloquently defending and supporting Joe. It appears to me that people here enjoy beating up on Joe, something I don't understand and likely never will. I'm with you and him 100%. Just received a thank you letter from his campaign today. Bless you Cha!! Stay strong!!

(1,812 posts)From a practical standpoint she won't be seriously considered for VP I don't believe she can run for 2 federal offices at the same time ...You can do so in Texas ...LBJ and Lloyd Bentsen ran for reelection and VP in the same year ...If Jeanne bowed out in her Senate run in favor of the Vice-Presidency , it would put another Senate seat in play .She is highly favored to win reelection in 2020.....

(6,228 posts)Biden running with a strong progressive Dem woman would be an awesome ticket. With almost half of men saying they wouldn't vote for a woman president, I can see trump running a very sexist campaign if a woman would be at the top of the ticket. Do I like it? Hell no, but I'm a realist. We have to beat trump. A woman VP would be aligned to be President. She would show those who are backward that woman can do the job. Yeah I know it sucks, but here we are.

I can't see either of those picks saying yes. Amy K would say yes but I'm not jazzed about her in that role.

(45,450 posts)Sally Yates would also be a great AG since she was in the acting role when Trump fired her. The other options are fine but not sure it's worth giving up a senate seat in a swing state.
