Gabbard WSJ op-ed: I Can Defeat Trump and the Clinton Doctrine

(Since she is still listed here, ahead of Yang and Booker, Castro and Steyer this is not "bashing Democrat" but, I suppose...)

(snip)

Hardly a week goes by when I’m not asked a question about how I’m being secretly backed by Russia or other foreign powers—on top of countless other falsehoods intended to destroy my reputation. Those who are indebted to the war machine and the overreaching intelligence agencies, as well as their cheerleaders in the media, are determined to take me down because they know they can’t control me. I’m directly challenging their power.

(snip)

Whether Mrs. Clinton’s name is on the ballot or not, her foreign policy will be, as many of the Democratic candidates adhere to her doctrine of acting as the world’s police, using the tools of war to overthrow governments we don’t like, wasting taxpayer dollars, costing American lives, causing suffering and destruction abroad, and undermining America’s security.

A Gabbard presidency would mean the end of trying to police the world, no more overthrowing governments, an end to the new Cold War and nuclear arms race, and redirecting our resources to urgent needs at home. That doesn’t mean I’m an isolationist. I will lead with a robust, positive foreign policy based on diplomacy and cooperation rather than confrontation and conflict. Those who follow the Bush-Clinton doctrine believe the only way to interact with other nations is by bombing them or starving them with draconian sanctions.

The most important responsibility of the president is to serve as commander-in-chief. As a Member of Congress for nearly seven years serving on the Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees, and as a veteran who deployed twice to the Middle East, I’m prepared to do that job from day one. I will immediately begin reversing the damage the Bush-Clinton doctrine has done to America and the world. To focus single-mindedly on this critical task, I’ve decided not to seek another term in the House of Representatives, where I’ve been honored to serve.

I hesitate to write it, but I feel this must be said. Ralph Nader did a lot of good things before his ego became over-inflated and he did a very stupid thing. I doubt anyone regrets his action more then he does. In the same way, Tulsi Gabbard has been doing some pretty stupid things but what she advocates was not out of the mainstream of Democratic thought in the past. "The end of trying to police the world, no more overthrowing governments, an end to the new Cold War and the nuclear arms race, and redirecting our resources to urgent needs at home." Think about what President Obama said "“The world is messy. There are ambiguities. People who do really good stuff have flaws.” and making change is not "to be as judgmental as possible about other people." Are we actually encouraging what we don't want (her running as a third-party candidate) by being so critical of her? This is something to think about. (Yeah, I know it was really stupid of her to criticize Hillary.)

This particular insult was common in the 1970s and 80s as more women launched their own professional careers. Efforts to push professional women back out of the workplace included demeaning language, such as calling them "Mrs. (husband name)." Just as more women began using Ms., there was a backlash.

Tulsi is too young to remember this. She's been scripted to call Hillary "Mrs. Clinton." It's a dog whistle to older conservative viewers - the Fox News base. This also tells me that Tulsi is not being groomed for a leadership position, even if she thinks she is. They're not helping her become president. Far from it. Her job is to be a spoiler to keep Trump in office. Then she can take her pretty face and well-scripted act to Fox News. That's how they think of her.
