Sanders takes lead in new poll of New Hampshire

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/467922-sanders-takes-lead-in-new-poll-of-new-hampshire

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leads the field of contenders in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire, with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) close behind.

The latest CNN-University of New Hampshire survey finds Sanders at 21 percent, followed by Warren at 18 percent.

Former Vice President Joe Biden comes in third place at 15 percent, followed by South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 10 percent and three candidates — tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) — tied at 5 percent support.

Sanders has the highest favorability rating in the field at 66 percent positive and 23 percent negative. Warren posts a 63-25 split and Biden rings in at 55-30.

New Hampshire voters also view Sanders as most likable, with 27 percent liking him the most, 20 percent saying Biden, 14 percent for Buttigieg and 10 percent for Warren.

Looks like the moderate wing of the party is now splitting like the progressive wing.

New Hampshire... the New England state right next door to Vermont... that one? Well, that's his demographic... I can understand why he'd be well-liked there. After all, it's very easy to please a homogeneous group of individuals who largely think alike and who largely have the same problems and concerns and philosophy and culture. The real challenge for a candidate is to do the same thing nationwide, with a variety of different states and regions. And, we see that BS clearly has problems in more diverse areas. therefore, I think it's a mistake to hold-up this poll a being some sort of "trendsetting" indicator. It's rather unsurprising, actually.

It looks like Castro is going to be the candidate excluded from the debates. I think that Beto will qualify for the next debate.

"Fifty-seven percent of New Hampshire voters are still trying to decide who they will support. Only 23 percent have definitely decided, and 21 percent are leaning toward one candidate."

So the majority of voters have not even decided on who they prefer next February, and only 23% have made a definite decision.

Another interesting part of the poll is the voters' opinion of which candidates have the best chance to win the General Election:

Biden 36%
Warren 18%
Sanders 14%
Buttigieg 3%

So in their eyes of the voters Biden has twice the chance of winning the General Election than Warren, who is in second place.
