With Sinema supporting the fillibuster, none of Warren's ideas will become law

Even if we retake the Senate, we will never get rid of the fillibuster. I expect there would be at least 10 Democratic votes against getting rid of it. I distinctly recall a number of Dem Senators voicing support for it when the issue has come up in the past.

So you can take the wealth tax and free college for all and all of that stuff and toss them in the garbage can. They aren't going to get 60 votes in the Senate.

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/10/29/kyrsten-sinema-arizona-democrats-060187

Take the liberal drive to bust down age-old Senate rules in order to pass “Medicare for All” or a “Green New Deal.” Sinema not only opposes getting rid of the 60-vote filibuster threshold for legislation, she wants to restore the supermajority requirement for presidential nominees that has been weakened by both parties.

“They will not get my vote on [nuking the filibuster],” Sinema said in her office, outfitted with shiny leather and translucent chairs and boasting a vivid shade of purple that pops from the walls. “In fact, whether I’m in the majority or the minority I would always vote to reinstate the protections for the minority. … It is the right thing for the country.”

primary today, I would vote for:

She has her own reality.

Warren is outlining where the negotiation points in congress need to start. No one thinks she will get everything.

This article is very suspect, as is Sinema.

“I said to her one time: Why aren’t you a Republican?" Ted Cruz to Sinema.

She rarely goes to party lunches and skipped Senate votes to run the Ironman. She endorsed a primary challenger against one of her own colleagues and hobnobs with Republicans at least as much as she does with her own caucus.

Kyrsten Sinema doesn’t really fit in with her fellow Senate Democrats. Don’t even ask her whether she watches the Democratic presidential debates.

“I’m not missing anything. I prefer happiness,” Sinema declares in a 25-minute interview, a rare extended conversation with an outlet not based in Arizona. “Look how happy I am.”

50% of the Senate is currently chosen by 16% of the total population and in which it will soon be the case that 70% of the Senate will be chosen by 18% of the population as smaller states hollow out and larger states become increasingly densely populated but without any change in political power is the ultimate in stupid short term thinking.

if there were no fillibuster to restrain him.

The truth is that the fillibuster is much more beneficial to Democrats than Republicans. To get rid of it the out of some childish desire for instant gratification would be the epitome of short-sighted thinking.

with everything we passed being swept aside in the process.

As someone above pointed out, the Senate is structurally weighted towards favoring Republicans, not Democrats. Obama famously made the point that Wyoming gets the same number of senators as California. That being the case, why on earth would we want to make it so things can easily get passed in the Senate?

It would have to be redefined if what we should be going for passes the constitutional process.

What we should do is propose a constitutional amendment that every state with more than 15 million residents get one extra Senate seat, with one more Senate seat being rewarded for every additional 10 million residents over 15 million residents. That means California would get 3 more Senate seats, Texas 2 more, Florida 1 more going on 2, New York State 1 more. Then we work our asses off to make blue states bluer and states like Texas and Florida reliably blue.

What we would do is pit states like Texas and Florida against small red states. Their Senators and legislatures would have to vote to screw their states to back small red states.

There are rules requiring that a reconciliation bill not add to the debt. What magic numbers are you going to use to make that happen with M4A?

Also, where are you going to find 50 votes? Plenty of democrats arent going to support it.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/3/8/18251707/medicare-for-all-bill-senate-filibuster-budget-reconciliation-byrd-rule

I’ve spoken with former and current Senate aides, academics who follow congressional procedure, and a former Senate parliamentarian over the past few weeks, and this was the unavoidable conclusion: The rules attached to budget reconciliation would make it nearly impossible to pass the Medicare-for-all bills being proposed by Sanders and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA). Reconciliation comes with serious fiscal constraints, and the provisions in those single-payer bills that prohibit private insurance and that expand the services covered by Medicare may not be allowed under the rules that govern the process.
