The unexpected threat emerging against Bernie: Andrew Yang

Politico

Andrew Yang snatched up Bernie Sanders’ 2016 ad firm last week, a coup for the long-shot presidential contender that raised eyebrows in political circles.

But it wasn’t the first time Yang won over a fan of his rival’s.

The outsider entrepreneur who refuses to wear a tie at the Democratic debates is attracting some of the same people as the outsider senator who spurns brushing his hair for rallies. Fifty-seven percent of Yang’s potential supporters are considering Sanders, according to a recent Ipsos/FiveThirtyEight poll. The mutual interest works in the other direction, too: 16 percent of Sanders’ potential voters are eyeing Yang.

Though Sanders and Yang differ in significant ways, they're both running anti-establishment campaigns that speak to an electorate frustrated with the status quo, wary of Democratic insiders, and looking for economic help. For Sanders, their overlapping bases may give him a small boost if Yang drops out of the race down the road or if he works to woo the so-called #YangGang.

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

I would be hard pressed to guess her personal politics if I had not followed her twitter feed, or seen some of her earlier pieces. This is professional journalism. She has also written one of the most influential OPs of this campaign: Sanders and Warren voters have astonishingly little in common https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/12/sanders-warren-voters-2020-1408548

I'm not too good with over the top compliments, so I'll just say, Holly's Dad can take pride is his talented, resourceful daughter.

He disqualified himself when he said more job opportunities would have prevented El Paso or whatever incident was in the news at the time...

And any political reporter still calling St. Bern "anti-establishment" should be fired for abject laziness...

Has anyone done an analysis on the Yang proposed $1,000.00, is it a month? to every family in the USA?

I think he is a very smart man, no doubt, but he is not my choice. No comparison to the creature because I don't think the creature is a businessman, he is just a crook, and Yang IS a businessman, but to think you don't need the knowledge of how government works is naive, and Yang doesn't have that experience.

He actually has a degree in economics so he's not just coming up with ill-considered proposals.

It is $1000/mo to every citizen 18 and up (unless you're in jail, but benefits resume once your sentence is done).

It will cost about 3x as much as free college for all (est $3T) and will be paid for with a combination of funding from the VAT he js proposing (which would exempt necessities), reduced expenditures on some welfare programs (many if not most using those programs would opt for the cash assistance, which would further reduce overhead spent on the means-tested programs), reduced expenditures on incarceration, and increased tax revenues from the implementation of this 'bubble up' economy.

And they are good ones, too; Warren, Yang and Buttigieg are all strong candidates and they're pulling a lot of younger voters from him.

2016 was Peak Bernie. All things considered, his numbers have held up as well as could be expected and his fundraising has been awesome.
